That's true but certainly not at first either...I mean this puppy will be going for $299 or, more likely, far more on ebay, for a while anyways.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

ODogg don't lie you probably got 2-3 already pre ordered so you can put them in every room in the house like you do with the Xbox and PlayStation consoles [emoji23][emoji6]

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
To each his own, but the Switch will serve as a tv console as well as a handheld. Instead of comparing it to the PS4 and XBOX One (apples and oranges honestly), we should be talking about just how versatile it will be for $300.
To do what we can do on a Switch on the PS4, it requires a PS Vita. That's much more expensive than getting it all in one with a Switch. The more I think about it, the more I realize $300 is a pretty damn good deal. But others will disagree, and that's fair.
I think the extra accessories are a little high, but the system alone is a pretty good package for $300.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Most of my negativity in here is just disappointment about Nintendos strategies, which to me appear baffling in many respects but I do hope that it succeeds.
And on a positive note...
You know one thing I read somewhere was one reason Wii U failed is the actual name. A lot of folks thought it was some add-on for the Wii. Many folks when polled didn't even realize it was a completely new console!!
So in that respect that is one very positive thing, the name has no "Wii" in it.Last edited by ODogg; 01-17-2017, 05:23 PM.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

The average Joe majority of people are going to look at it as what games it will play and how the games look and the added functionality is "oh that's cool too" feature.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Again though, this is something an experienced gamer who is knowledgeable does. Something an "OSer" does. Not something most of the buying public will do.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Disagree with the price. When you add in Zelda, accessories (all overpriced), future internet cost, etc., it adds up very quickly and when overall, it simply doesn't come close to xbox one or ps4, you realize that holy crap!!! Nintendo is ripping me off!!! LOL.
If the Switch was $200, not only would it sell a hell of a lot more at launch and throughout 2017 but the backlash wouldn't be as bad as it is right now especially in regards to what I previously mentioned above. Also, $200 would have been huge short term AND long term. Late 2017, if Xbox One Slim/PS4 Slim get price cuts to $200 and the original base consoles drop to $150 (if there's still any of them being available) and you look at Switch for $300 and as a consumer, which one do you think they will look at buying especially if they look into accessories?
Also, here's another factor. A lot of people here are married with kids so your funds are limited. You have no console at all and two of them are at $150/$200 while the other is $300 and all you can spend is $300. Which one would you buy? You're obviously going to buy the cheapest console simply because you're get a hell of a lot more for your money and you'll see it as great value plus you'll have at least a few games to play while you're waiting to have enough money to buy another game.
These are all factors that Nintendo didn't consider whatsoever. All they care about is not losing money on hardware which also explains why they will always be a generation behind tech wise. Hardware is not what you make money. It's the software and online memberships.
If it was me, my main goal would be trying to get my console into as many people's homes as humanly possible. $300 and no game packed in? 12 Switch $50? Accessories overpriced? That's not going to do it.
Switch will do as expected between now and September but once October hits with or without Mario, the competition is going to slaughter it simply because it offers more for less. Consumers want to get more for less and with Switch, you're getting less but paying more.
$200 would have been perfect for now, year's end and at least a few years long term. $300 at launch, debatable but future wise, nope.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
The accessories are comparable in price to the other consoles.
The other systems don't have the games Nintendo does that I find myself wanting to play. Can't that be enough?

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Agree in regards to "Nintendo games" but the problem is that those games won't matter to the majority of consumers due to the price. The Switch starting price point is $360 minimum excluding tax or any of the accessories. Next post is a little more positive.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Kinda Funny Nintendo Switch hands on impressions with Tim. Must admit that he's getting me hyped. If more pre-orders open up before launch and I can get the console at launch, I may indeed buy it. Damn it!!! This sucks. I hate this. I keep "switching" my mind on the damn thing. LOL.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I would think that I'm in the majority of consumers who are purchasing the Switch in the fact that I'm buying it as a second console to either the PS4/XOne, eliminating any decision to be made between the 3 consoles on which one I want to do my gaming.
Also, I think that I'm in the majority in that my main reason for purchasing the Switch is for the Nintendo exclusive titles.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I think the obvious next step is to drop out of the hardware game and develop for other platforms but I understand why they wouldn't do that when Zelda (a version barely different than the one coming out on their last gen console lol) is enough to make people feel compelled to spend $300, it's easy money.
They've made the decision to double down on a niche market that wasn't big enough to make their last console a success. Just infinite confusion from Nintendo on my end.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Nintendo confirmed to IGN the differences between Switch and Wii U Zelda
- Wii U runs at 720p
- Switch runs at 900p w/ 'higher quality environmental sounds'
If you're the proud owner of a Wii U, you might be wondering whether the Switch is worth a day one purchase. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is coming to both, so what's the rush, right? Well, the two versions have a few key differences. In a statement provided to IGN, Nintendo confirmed that the Switch game will run at 900p on your TV, while the Wii U version will be stuck at 720p. Switch owners will also benefit from "higher quality environmental sounds," covering water, grass and ornate steps. These will be "more realistic and enhance the game's open air feel," apparently.Comment
