So the difference is from like a PS4 to a PS4 Pro versus a PS3 to PS4. That's sort of the disappointment of many here I think.

The video pretty much confirms that. Looks like mostly the same game with slightly (very slightly) better color overall on the Switch.

Certainly not worth spending $375 or so to play if you already own a Wii U

Point one may be valid but point two is a bit lacking considering only Zelda will be out. I too would love to play many of the Nintendo exclusives but they also are severely lacking at this point.

Just wondering...do we (gamers) have to lower our expectations and just accept that Nintendo systems will not be technical powerhouses? Seems like we always complain about this every time they release a system....

I don't really care about the tech limitations or prowess of a console. I just want to play games that are fun and entertaining.

The difference between MS and Sony as tech companies and Nintendo as a toy company is clear. I guess I just figured as a business they would be doing more to broaden their fanbase as it seems the gaming community is getting bigger and bigger and yet Nintendo consoles sell less and less.

Zelda will not be the only exclusive released for the Switch. My point is that I am buying a Switch to play the exclusive titles to Nintendo, whether they be at launch or a year from now.

Zelda will be out at launch. Mario Kart will be out next month. Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey are thought to be out this year. Considering that I'm playing the Switch alongside my PS4, imo, those 4 games releasing in year 1 is well worth the price of admission.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I don't either but I care when I see a Zelda that looks mostly the same as the Wii U version. Why buy new hardware if its the same "fun and entertaining" game?

Oh I know, but I'm saying, you're still buying into promises and I did that once on the Wii U. I was hoping this time we could, you know, actually buy into games and not promises right off the bat.

Also, I'm still seeing the same exact games in terms of classic games from Nintendo and nothing new. Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart, are all great but I see no attempt to broaden the classic game stable Nintendo has and really expand and do something exciting.

4 classic Nintendo games is ok and they are all great games, but Nintendo has so many more classics they could be doing.

It almost makes me think that Nintendo is like the smart as hell kid who skates by getting C's in school when they could be getting A+s....

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017

For me, Switch would be for the Nintendo exclusives. Wish they would confirm one way or the other if they're working on SM3DW and DKCTF ports for Switch because im hoping they are. SMO is scheduled for this fall but if it gets delayed to 2018 which is always a possibility, SM3DW would be good replacement game especially for those who haven't played it.

The reason why gamers such as myself want the console to be more powerful and up to par is pretty simple - third party support. No console can survive without third party support. It's just not going to happen. Look at 3DS, it has excellent third party support and is around what 60m or so?

Since N64, third party support has been non-existent on the home consoles and if Switch is underpowered (which it obviously is) and if it's pain in the *** to port games over to, then well, you won't be getting third party support.

Eventually, this will become bigger than what Nintendo and their hardcore fans think it is because they keep losing fans every gen. Outside of the Wii fluke which they are so desperate to recapture, every Nintendo console has sold less than the one before and this goes all the way back to NES.

That's not good. As a gamer, I want Nintendo to be awesome like they were in NES/SNES but without all the bullcrap. They could easily give both Sony and Microsoft a run for their money but they never ever do and as a gamer and as a Nintendo fan, that's so damn disappointing.

Switch is an original, unique and innovative idea but if in the end, it doesn't get third party support, it's going to die out very quickly like the Wii U did. I can understand that for those who buy Nintendo consoles day one its just for their games but at the same time, this loyal fan base is getting smaller and smaller every generation. Eventually, there won't be a fan base left.

Love that Switch is a home console but despite not caring about handhelds, I love the hybrid aspect and this is what Nintendo should be showcasing. Being able to switch from TV to handheld (or vice versa) with no lag, delay or waiting (via Tim) is awesome.

I look at EA, Bethesda and Ubisoft and their support is non-existent. A last gen port of Fifa is a very low risk for EA and probably inexpensive compared to current gen and their frostbite engine. Ubisoft porting over Steep and Rayman Legends (which is four years old!!!!!) is also inexpensive. Bethesda being on a Nintendo platform for the very first time is HUGE but then, you see the game and it's like "meh" because it's a six year old port of the original base game from 2011. And is also inexpensive compared to their remaster.

EA, Ubisoft, Activision, WB, etc. all lost a lot of money on Wii U and being very cautious is understandable but Nintendo should be going out of their way to get them all behind it 100%.

Borderlands 3 was said to be a possible Switch game and they talked to Nintendo but Nintendo wasn't interested whatsoever and move on to other things. I'm not a fan of Borderlands at all but crap like this is not going to make the Switch succeed.

One thing that Nintendo should also do and I mentioned this months ago is porting over 3DS games to Switch but without the 3D effect. This would be huge. Increases the game library, allows those who don't have a 3DS to play some of those games and is overall, just a good move.

If Switch does end up bombing then Nintnedo would be wise to get forfeit the hardware business and go third party because their games would easily sell 10M+ on each console because the idea of playing a Nintendo game on a Sony or Microsoft console would be history in the making and people love to be part of history. Nintendo would literally make a killing if they ever go third party.

Just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we all expect Zelda, Mario, etc from Nintendo but why aren't they innovating in bringing back other Nintendo classics such as Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong, RC Pro Am, etc?

If they want to be a nostalgia machine I'm cool with that, I'll pay good money for it too. And I won't say one damned word about it not being up to snuff hardware wise with Xbox or PS4...

But damnit, give us the games! I mean give us all sorts of classic Nintendo games! Not just the same old classics, which we all love, but we need more!

No I'm buying into the games. The 4 games that I mentioned are worth the $300 price tag of the Switch. That doesn't include other games that I may pick up along the way. (I know I'm getting Super Bomberman R at launch).

So if for some reason, the only 5 games that I pick up are Zelda, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Bomberman R, Mario Kart, and Splatoon 2, then that is worth the cost of the Switch.

Look I understand that you and others may not share the same point of view, but for me the Switch is offering enough for me to purchase, especially considering that it will be a secondary console to my PS4.

I don't believe those 4 games are enough for me. However, I am not saying there isn't enough for me to buy the Switch at all, just that there isn't enough to buy it at the current price point and with the current games that will be there.

If the price of the Switch drops to $199 around Christmas and, by then, Mario and Mario Kart are still out I'd probably be a sucker and buy one.

I say that I'd probably be a sucker because I swore I wouldn't after I felt I got burned by the Wii U but at $199 and the ability to play those games I'd probably be suckered once again, LOL.

Still, it's not so much the price point that bothers me, it's the lack of games that bothers me more. And I'm saying that EVEN including all of those games you cited.

Per my previous post, there's so much more Nintendo could do with their past game catalog that even at $199 and with Zelda and Mario I would want more and I think many would agree with me...
