Today was a community today for me, meaning I take a small group of students out of the classroom and let them pick somewhere in the community we want to ride public transit to and practice travel training, street safety, etc.

We ended up in this kind of strip mall kind of area, I guess you could call it. Each student picked a store they wanted to visit and one of the stores we visited was GameStop. We got there about 5 minutes before it opened, and there was a line of about 11 people. I was kind of curious about that. I guess I should have guessed it was Switch related but I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I was just sitting there like "what game is coming out on a Thursday that these people would wait for?"

So yeah, they were all in line for the Switch. Apparently, based on what I heard them saying, they went there every day this week in hopes to be told that new stock would be coming in, and today the employee opened the door and said, first thing without even needing to greet anyone or ask questions, "we have 5 units coming in today, sometime between 11 and 1." Immediately, all the people, who had been very friendly to each other before, turned defensive/aggressive and a debate started about who was there first and in what order. Like one said he was there first but was in his car, one girl said she had been there since 8:30 but had been sitting at the Starbucks next door, etc. It started getting aggro.

Anyway, sorry for the random story. I guess the struggle is real out there. Glad I pre-ordered.

I was excited about GameStop getting more units in its stores, but I wouldn't be surprised based off this story if 5-10 units is all any store will be getting right now.

At this point, I'm not going to worry about it. If I run into one while I'm out, I'll pick it up. Otherwise, I'll continue to wait.

I was excited about GameStop getting more units in its stores, but I wouldn't be surprised based off this story if 5-10 units is all any store will be getting right now.

At this point, I'm not going to worry about it. If I run into one while I'm out, I'll pick it up. Otherwise, I'll continue to wait.

Seen an article this morning that toys r us stores nationwide are expected to get some shipments of switches in this weekend. It didn't say how many but might be worth a shot for you or anyone else out there still looking to pick one up

Seen an article this morning that toys r us stores nationwide are expected to get some shipments of switches in this weekend. It didn't say how many but might be worth a shot for you or anyone else out there still looking to pick one up

However this is ONLY going to get worse.


If you think its bad now with how the system WITH Zelda imagine how it will be WITH Mario by end of year?


NO ramp up in production will ever be enough


Come Black Friday Switches will be rare OR being sold on Ebay for astronomical prices.


Best to get one now and quick....

I think I've finally figured out why the Switch appeals to me so much. Over the last year I've bought a lot of games, many of which I played through just because only a few I really loved. I've had moments where I thought maybe this hobby wasn't for me anymore. DLC, constant bugs, patches, online stuff, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love my PS4. I love Uncharted 4, Hitman and others. But something was missing, I kept buying games trying to keep my attention. And nothing was working. I'd buy a game and be bored within days. Or lose interest. That's the worst feeling when I'm even trying to enjoy it.

I got a New 3DS for Xmas from the wife. I picked up a bunch of VC games and fell back in love with gaming. I also got a NES Classic which I adore to this day.

Along comes the Switch which I was really hot and cold on. Some days I couldn't wait. Others I wanted to cancel. Then I basically got it for free as documented pages back thanks for Zelda Master Edition. Playing Zelda ignited a spark in me. It's like when I played Zelda on the NES back when I was 9-10 years old. Exploring and doing it on my own, learning the world of Hyrule and just playing a game without all the "stuff". I haven't felt that way in a long time. Bloodborne was the closest on PS4, but this even eclipses that.

Nintendo has captured me as a fan after I swore them off. Gaming is fun right now for me all because of this system and Zelda. I love sitting on my couch not worrying about 4K, inputs, internet issues or the like. My wife can be watching her shows and I'm lost in Hyrule next to her. I take it to work and use it on my lunch hour. I have two portable machines that have my gaming history and life on them. New and old. I feel completely rejuvenated with gaming right now. Can't wait for Mario Kart and Mario Odyssey.

I plan to buy one after Mario Kart comes out but am waiting for that saves being tied to the console issue to be resolved.

More hyperbole. Just be patient. It will get better like always. A ramp up in production would certainly help. This is nintendo though.

I plan to buy one after Mario Kart comes out but am waiting for that saves being tied to the console issue to be resolved.

My Zelda Wii U save and all VC purchases being transferable would definitely make me more inclined to buy this thing when Mario drops. Wish they could get simple stuff like this happening.

Yeah, I'm just really worried I'd get a Switch and play Zelda and Mario Kart for like 100 hours, then my Switch would develop an issue and I'd have no way to move my saves.

Just to be clear, there is no backing up your saves to a Nintendo online "cloud" or something is there? So like if you had to exchange your Switch you could just re-download your saves from there?

There is a report with photographic evidence of someone sending their switch back to Nintendo for repairs, having it replaced instead, and then having an option on his new switch to download from a cloud.

The assumption is Nintendo has access to cloud saves. But no one knows for sure if they'll make it public.

If the stock situation is like it is now come the fall and holidays, all Nintendo will accomplish is losing those who are interested in the damn thing as they will look elsewhere.

Nintendo has a huge demand now but think about why...it's a new console (which is always overhyped) with their third best selling IP in Zelda, they will have Mario (second best selling) and Pokémon (first best selling) possibly before the end of 2017.

Nintendo needs to take full advantage of this year as best they can by actually having the console available to purchase for the consumers that want to buy it.

Well I know it's probably like paranoia but I just will not buy it until they fix that. My time is too valuable to chance losing all my game progress if my Switch has an issue.
