I can see for exclusives them wanting to push 4k 60, but I do agree that a lot of 3rd party games might not hit 4k 60. But I think that will be dependent on developer .

But we are within a month of possible reveal, so i hope they reveal full specs so all the 'leaks' and rumors stop

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season

I am hoping and i think Sony will give us a $500 console, and i think it will cost them about 600 to make meaning they will sale it at a lose of around 100 so that its a little more future prof. Then they can make the money up with PlayStation+ and games, controllers etc. Ever one talks about 400 price but i don't think systems can like stay at that price forever. I am already kind of surprised that the standard video game price has stayed at $60 sense 05/06 with ps3 and xbox 360 and has not went up to 70. People talk about the ps3 and its price and why Sony would want to stay at 400 but 500 would still be 100 less then the ps3 60 GB console was, and when you put inflation on top of that and the fact that around 07 the economy crashed really bad 600 back then was way worse then 500 would be now. Also ps3 getting off to a bad start was not just because of its price there was another things like coming out a year after xbox 360, multi-platform games having a lot of issues the first 2 years or so on ps3 because of the cell chip.

When it comes to the pro i don't like the idea of it and i also don't really see why we would need one. Ps4 only had a pro because 4k was becoming a bigger then. If 4k was not like a thing or ps4 had 4k right away pro would have not happen. Ps5 is not close enough to were 8k will be a thing. Right now 8k tv's are just coming out and even in like 3 years most people will still not have a 8k tv because of the price, and also the price to make a console at 8k that only cost like 500 is not realistic at all this gen. Now by ps6 maybe you can make a console that does 8k but even that might be pushing it. 60 FPS is the most overrated thing in gaming, and i still see most games being 4k and 30fps this gen because graphics sale more to people then do Frame rate. So there is really no reason for a pro its not going to make 4k now 8k, and its not going to make it so games are 60 FPS instead of 30. People have talked about 60 FPS for a long time and about how consoles are not powerful enough to do 60 FPS. Its not really the power its the fact that graphics sale more then frame rate so developers are going to push for better graphics over frame rate. If for example a developer could do 1440p at a stable 60 FPS or 4k but at 30 FPS most are going to go for the 4k.

Wasn't Gears 5 on Xbox One X native 4K and at 60FPS? If so, I don't see how games wouldn't hit native 4K and a locked 60FPS on PS5. X was 6TF of GPU power. Even if PS5 is the rumored 9.2TF of GPU power, how could that not be enough?

I'm expecting native 4K, HDR, Ray Tracing and a locked 60FPS for both next gen consoles but in regards to PS5, look at what Sony's first parties were able to squeeze out of the base 2013 PS4 with a crappy Jaguar CPU and extremely weak GPU in comparison to what next gen will be.

I would be shocked if Sony's first parties don't hit all that. Third parties should hit it as well but due to them working on multiple platforms, I can see them not hitting all of that.

When it comes to TF i think 12 would be a good number that would be 2 times the x and considering x was a mid gen upgrade meaning less time between new systems i think 2 times is pretty darn good.

I stopped reading at 60fps is overrated.

Gears 5 was not native 4k 60 on the x. It dipped below 60 and it was not native 4k.

Also people should want native 4k 60fps but high to ultra settings. Gears 5 on the X was not ultra settings and was not locked 60fps and not native 4k.

Now if you want native 4k 60fps on next gen games all the time then prepare for medium to low settings in triple A games

I have a 2080ti and i9 9900k OC to 5.0ghz and cannot have locked 60fps ultra settings native 4k in all games. My rig combo of cpu and gpu is vastly superior to anything x series or ps5 will offer

So Gears 5 was 4K CBR or dynamic 4K where the resolution scaled throughout the game? Yeah, it wasn't locked 60 but was close to 60 for the entire game.

PC platform though isn't a "fixed" platform. Consoles always have the best and most stable version of games simply because they can be fully optimized for the fixed consoles. You can't do that on a PC because of all the different variations and combinations that people have.

I'm not worried about Sony's (or Microsoft's for that matter) first party studios as they will be working on one fixed console that will be fully optimized.

Third parties are a different story but games like AC Odyssey are close to 4K resolution and run around 30FPS throughout the game on PS4 Pro. I'm still fully expecting third parties to take advantage of what the consoles have to offer.

I do believe that Native 4K at a locked 60 FPS will be easily possible on PS5/Xbox Series X but also depends on the development studio to fully optimize their game in order to hit that. But we'll see.

I'll be getting a PS5 at launch. I've loved my PS4 and PS4 pro so i just can't imagine not liking the PS5.

Would love to see at launch:
                    Gran Turismo 7
Horizon Zero Dawn 2 or Killzone 5
Resistance 4 (why have we not seen a new resistance game?)
A new Motorstorm game that is more like the first two were.
Might be to soon but Days Gone 2 would be epic.

Well we will agree to disagree but I see zero chance for all games or most games to be native 4k ultra with 60fps on ps5.....We will see

These slapfights over specs are largely pointless. Unless they impact gameplay they're irrelevant for the vast majority.

Rocket League is a good example, it was very difficult to play at launch if you ever played it on PC due in part to it's lower framerate. This was remedied in time thankfully.

My most played game the last couple of months I average something like 25 fps, though I'm also upscaling it to 1440p: NCAA 14 in an emulator. The experience and gameplay outweigh what could objectively be perceived as a deficit and that's simply wrong.

In the grand scheme of ecosystems, libraries and subscription services and the value they provide, resolution and framerate are largely irrelevant unless they have a direct and tangible impact on gameplay.

It's all about libraries for me tbh. Most of the big titles outside of a small round of exclusives can be played on the PC.

Horizon: Zero Dawn coming to PC this year, so even moreso now if that's the beginning of something more from Sony.

Revamp PSNow to be similar to Game Pass + XCloud and they'll get my money for that too and not have to take an initial loss to put a console in my house.

It depends on the game, and the trade-offs. A billiards game doesn't need 60 FPS for me, obviously.

When you look at the GTA and RDR universe as well, the detail they provide (with acceptable motion blur) is worth the FPS hit, and you can try and justify it more if you want to say it gives it a more cinematic feel. That being said, if you play RDR on PC with at least 60 FPS, you will realize you're still missing a lot when playing it. However, I wouldn't take the graphics/draw distance hit on PS4 by upping that framerate either.

In general though, all contact main sports titles should be 60 FPS, though. That is the bar for me.

I agree. They can get PSNow to Gamepass level with improved latency, I wouldn't hesitate to subscribe to that. I don't keep a collection of games. Last few years, I used Gamefly. But if PSNow can really expand the library of legacy PlayStation games(including some that auto upscales), I would be willing to subscribe. I wonder if that Sony and Microsoft cloud partnership, helps Sony improve that.

We hear about the download what you want. I really hope they seriously improved game/patch download time. It has been frustrating this gen having to wait hour or so just for games and patches to download.
