I'm expecting PS5 to have a 1TB SSD. Cost wise, Sony is getting everything bulk which drives down the cost considerably since they would be purchasing so many at once.

Based on the patents, seems to be for a possible future handheld system but we'll see.

My concern would be the potential extremes (which IMO is unlikely - but we watched it happen with Vita):

To ship a $400 SKU, only include a 500gb SSD (or smaller, which seems so unfathomable it's not worth hypothesizing), as game sizes continue to balloon that would only hold a handful of larger games.

Then, shipping a proprietary expansion product - so it doesn't realize any economies of scale of their PC counterparts, they're inflated in price 50-100% (like the Vita memory cards). 2TB SSDs are currently ~$199. 3-4TB are typically twice that in most circumstances. So expanding the storage could be cost-prohibitive.

Oh my god, I totally forgot what you meant by Vita's mistakes until you said the word "proprietary." That really scared away customers when they found out that the Vita itself was really just half of everything you had to pay for.

But alas, I loved that damn thing. Still use it for Remote Play, but that's about it these days. Within the first year of launch though, I played that thing nonstop. Some great titles to come from it.

Rumor that spiderman sequel will be on ps5 around holiday 2020. I can see that would be about 3 years after the first game. Also rumors that ps5 will be able to play ps1-4 games. I think Sony is going to drop the mic tonight at PlayStation awards and announce ps5 can play ps1-ps4 games.

One year from now we will be gaming on the PS5. Amazing how far the video game have come since I started playing in 1977 with the Atari 2600. I have to wonder though , how much better can these games get?

I wouldn't be suprised if they released a small tidbit about PS5 today or even just a black screen with the words "PS5 Holiday 2020"

I remember playing the N64 as a kid and thinking those graphics were great then to now current gen looking close to photo realistic. It also make me wonder the jump we'll see. As far graphics, I see improved lighting, better textures, more photo realistic visuals, and smoother animations. But want to see how much game play improves especially for sports games
I expect us to get a reveal on that Feb event like with PS4 and a deeper dive on E3. It made sense for Sony to skip E3 this year. Besides GOT and Death Stranding, wouldn't have been much for them to disclose any way. But I do expect them to be there next year. As much as the specs sound cool and all the "most fastest/powerful", I'm ready for the meat and potatos. I want to hear the main info about how games will be on next generation. I expect us to hear about how PS5 gsme at and after E3. But wouldn't be suprised to see photos and conmparions pics before then

I can see that. I believe the original rumor was Feb 12, so I can see it being Feb 5. Either way, I'll be at work, but still will be keeping an eye for it.

I don't know if they will handle the reveal like last time. There are rumors that Microsoft will approach their E3 as if Sony won't be there. If Sony will do their own conference, it changes the way they do their reveal in Feb. E3 is typically focused on games. But either way, I can see them revealing the box, more clearer features and specs, clearer release window, and price. Then with E3/own conference, they would show off games

Sony skipping E3 again is crappy. I love E3 week. Unless they pull a Microsoft where they're not at E3 technically but rent out a place during that week and have a showcase during E3, this will be horrible. For me, E3 is like Christmas for adult gamers.

Wouldn't be surprised if Sony screws up next gen as it is their turn to do so. lmao.

I wasn't expecting much from E3 2019 since the generation was winding down and it was too early to give info about next generation. Sony really didn't have anything to show last year, so I didn't mind. But it Will suck with them not being there this year. Last year was meh. But I have been watching E3 since I was a teen. This would have been one of those big E3 if Sony would have been there.

Sony does have to handle this the right way for this not to misfire on them. I definitely think Feb PS5 reveal will happen. Hopefully they will discuss when they will do their own conference. I think they will do it before E3 to steal momentum. I'm sure Microsoft will step up their conference knowing Sony won't be there. If Microsoft conference knocks it out the park and Sony waits until after E3, then it puts more pressure on them to exceed it.

Sony said they are going to other gaming events besides E3. So I can see them using those platform and their own events to dish out info. But yeah, the E3 is losing its luster. Nowadays you can save the money and release info on your own terms. The internet platform is bigger than its ever been. You can do a live stream and still get a huge audience and it is more direct and convenient for fans and Media. I wouldn't be surprised if within 5-10 years, more companies start pulling out of E3 and doing their own events
