It would be nice if the controllers were backwards compatible. Even if a new feature couldn’t be used most games can get by with basic controls.

The thing I really liked is how different the installs will be. One of the biggest gripes I had about PS4 is how long it would actually take to start playing the game initially and around patches. With initial installs and day 1 patch, you're looking at a couple hours before you actually start playing. If they can truly cut that down drastically, it's a game changer for me. Factor in SSD and loading times, it's going to be more convenient. I want to be able to immediately jump into games.

Pretty much this. But just for the record, it's 9.2TF and 10.28TF overclocked. The main difference is that with the variable speeds of the CPU and GPU, both will never be maxed out for any game. Using one to the max compromises the other.

With that said, PS5 will be amazing but im seeing a $400 price tag and I would have preferred that Sony would have legitimately gone all out with a $500 console instead.

I'm expecting Sony's exclusives to be amazing as for the most part they usually are but im expecting all third party multi-platform titles to be better on Series X. But we'll see how it all turns out.

I own both Consoles, and the X has the advantage now over the pro for 3rd party titles, and it still didn't make a difference for MS. PS still was doing its thing.

I still don't see this changing this gen at all. The PS5 is still a very powerful console.


The SX can have the power advantage again, but with good quality games, MS is doomed again. Lets see what these new stupid do now that MS has now.

I do feel like Series X will probably look better in some 3rd party games and have advantages in places. But for me, looking slightly better on 3rd party games, isn't a big deal for me. Unless It is a drastic difference, you will have the same experience playing a 3rd party game.
The "power" war hasn't equated to success for XBox. All that power is good, but if you don't have console exclusives that don't show off full power of console, then it doesn't really matter. Not having a Series X exclusive for 1-2 years, could be a disadvantage. But with Xbox studios having 20+ games being developed, I do feel like by Year 3 of Series X, there could be exclusives that could rival Sony's.
But I do feel the Ecosystem approach for Xbox is am advantage. Gamepass, Smart Delivery, and XCloud could be a deciding factor for some. XCloud is cool, but not for me. I don't care about ability to play games anywhere. I like have my dedicated gaming set up at home and don't "need" to play games outside of home. Smart Delivery is a good consumer friendly move. I don't see Sony doing that lol. Especially not with exclusives. I see gamers having to purchase enchanted version of exclusives. I just hope more developers are willing to work with Sony to work on getting backwards compatibility to enhance PS4 versions of games. But Gamepass will be big factor. With the already expansive library and enhanced BC games, having Xbox exclusives being available day one in Gamepass is a huge sell. I don't see Sony putting exclusives that can easily sell 8-10+ millions on PSNow until years later. I just hope they expand the library of PSNow to include more BC games and have enhanced versions. I stopped GameFly last year before I sold my PS4s. I will rejoin Gamefly once I get PS5 . I would like to subscribe to PSNow also, but they would need to really expand the library

With the end of next month being when we get Q1 sales i wonder if we will get a state of play talking about TLOU2 and GOT and or more ps5 news around then?

I do feel like we will get info in April. I think the impending releases of TLOU2 and GOT does have an effect PS5 news reveal. I guess they don't want PS5 news to overshadow those games. But I think those games will sell well regardless and I don't see them holding off info past end of April. I expect we get proper consumer PS5 reveal in April.

I think TLOU1 came out close to ps4 so i am not sure if Sony is worried about over shadowing ps5 or not and senses last year Sony has been odd with how they are doing things. But yeah want i was thinking is maybe in late April do a state of play and announce a price cut for both ps4 and pro. Got to think they will get a price cut before ps5 comes out, and if not for amazing ps4 sales they would have likely gotten cheaper already. Then give a update on sales and a new game play video for both TLOU2 and GOT. By then TLOU2 will only be about 2 months ago and GOT about 3 months. Around that time period would be a good time for those 2 games to get new game play videos, and GOT has not shown a lot of game play yet. Then more info on the Predator game. Then maybe end with and stay tuned for such and such date to get more ps5 news.

In fairness, the PS4/Xbox One generation was pretty much decided long before PS4 Pro/Xbox One X was released. Xbox One X wasn't meant to close the gap. It was meant to right a wrong and to show the fanbase that going forward, Xbox would never be the weakest console again.

Microsoft acquired several studios already and are simply on a wait for next gen and see what they all can do. I see their internal studios being for me what all of Sony's internal studios were for me this gen - great or better.

Last gen, outside of Naughty Dog, all of Sony's internal studios were literally non-existent for me. And it wasn't until Horizon Zero Dawn that I finally started caring about their internal studios because they finally started developing games that actually interested me to where I wanted to play them.

That's how I see Microsoft's internal studios being for me next gen. Didn't care for them prior to joining Microsoft but with more money, resources, time, staff, etc., I can easily see some great games coming from their studios.

Since when does what happens in 1 generation translate to the next? I am sure you were thinking the same thing before 360 and ps3 came out

Make no mistake about it that ps5 will outsell the series X but it wont be because of games or being better. It will outsell the series x because of brand recognition and the lower price point that it MOST likely will carry.

But I can assure you that it won't outsell the series x like the ps4 did the xbox one.

Why in the hell you do think people pick one console over the other??...it's because of the GAMES, it doesn't matter which console is more powerful or not.

As far as brand recognition goes, the original xbox was Nov 2001, and the playstation was 1995 iirc...so it was only a 6 year gap between consoles, not the big gap you want people to think that it was.

Whether you want to see it or not, it all boils down to the GAMES!!

I've been guilty of getting caught up on the tflop argument in recent months I guess because I need something to do now.

I replayed uncharted 4 on my base ps4 and non 4k TV over the last weeks. I took the following screenshot using the share button then transferring it to my iphone then computer. It hit me that I was getting too caught up on the 1.8 difference. The jump from base ps4 to ps5 is going to be huge if you look at the numbers. If Sony can do the following with the base ps4 specs before what they can do with the ps5 is going to be amazing.

Exactly. And like you said that pic is from the base PS4, so imagine what they can do on a PS5. That's why I never got caught up in the TFlop/Power narrative. I expect by end of 2021 and on is when we see the big games
Uncharted 4 is a game that I would like them to enhanced on PS5.

Madden, COD, 2k are played far and away and sold far and away more on sony consoles then any of their exclusives. Why? Because that is what casuals know.

Remember that casuals are the target audience not enthusiasts. Casuals do not buy God of war, LOU, Uncharted...

The games you mentioned were all carry overs from the ps3 days as you mentioned...and where did they end up?...thats right the PS4! So what does that mean....folks wanted to play those games on the ps4, see where this is going yet? it's the GAMES!!

Exclusives obviously matter but not until a few years into the generation as you rarely get masterpieces at launch and the few times that happened, one was Halo, one was Mario 64 and the last was BOTW.

Sony always starts out weak while Microsoft starts out strong but end in the opposite direction as how they started.

PS4 was at 40m or so before Uncharted 4 was released in May 2016. So basically for 2 1/2 years, exclusives were sorely lacking and people still bought the console for all the multi-platform games plus im sure GTA 5 helped sell a crap ton.

For me, PS3 was literally for 5 exclusives, same as Xbox One. PS4 will finish at around 20. I'm expecting Microsoft to give me 10+ exclusives in what will probably be a 6-8 year console generation. I do see PS5 exclusives decreasing for me outside of the sequels we'll all expecting simply because I do see Sony's internal studios developing a few more online multi-player focused titles, possibly in first person which are of no interest to me.

At the end of the day, exclusives and games matter but like majority of gamers, the vast majority of games I play are multi-platform and come next gen, I want the best of power and performance. That's simply going to be Series X. I want the best frame rates, Native 4K, full RGB HDR and most of all, Ray Tracing to be the best it can be.

The PS5 SSD is going to be ultra fast while the XSX will be super fast. Both will be massive improvements over the current generation not just in that aspect but overall.

Both will be amazing and as always, I will own both but day one is all about XSX because for the first two years or so, it's going to be all about the multi-platform games and whether it's Cyberpunk 2077, AC Ragnarok, WD Legion, Outriders or whatever else, I simply want to be playing the best possible version of those games.
