I would say that Sony follows PS4. September 2023. Slim model, $300 and PlayStation 5 Pro model $400 in November 2023. This would be my bet.

Guess I'll have to wait for a bit if I want the slim.

Mlb 21 and 22 probably won't be worth getting, but would be tempting to get 23 but I'll have to hold off. I know NBA 2K21 and 2k22 on ps5 probably won't be as good as 2k23.

I might cave in by 2022 though.

I don't know why I keep getting caught on the variable frequency bit. Did they originally have the clockspeeds locked in and then raised them as high as they could, variably, to get as many TF on paper to bridge the "perceived power gap" from the XsX?

Regardless, both consoles are beasts. The storage bandwidth of the PS5 is insanely impressive. I look forward to a generation of ultra fast loading and asset streaming. The CPUs are a huge step up too.

Raytracing seems cool but it comes at SUCH a hit to performance (from what I have experienced, anyway) that I hope its inclusion in many AAA games isnt the difference between 60fps and 30fps

Can't wait for next gen to arrive.

Just waiting to find out the price of each console (and the PS5s actual design)

        My prediction is

        PS5 - 449 bucks

        XsX - 499 bucks

I read something about the fans and people complaining how they are on the PS4, so something about constant power and variable speed? I don't remember exactly but it rings a bell.

I am going with ps4 costing $400 and XBSX being $500. About fan noise its going to be interesting because a lot of people complain about the noise of the pro. I don't have the pro but regular ps3 back in the day was crazy loud. Ps3 slim i got after my regular ps3 got YLOD after only about 2.5 years of having it was crazy quite. Ps4 on the other hand i find it is louder then ps3 slim but way less noise then ps3 regular.

Saw just a few minutes ago on facebook what is said to be spiderman 2 ps5 concept art. Trying to find out if i can find a link to where it was found so i could post it here. With today being April fools i don't trust/believe any thing but it did look real and if it was a fake its a really well done fake.

I saw somewhere that Sony spent more then usual to make the system quite I believe it was around $4 per console.

Yeah I believe the variable frequency and more advanced cooling system is a way to keep console quiet and maintain steady level of performance. I think goal is to use Smartshift and variable frequency to keep console from over working its self causing it to get loud. I don't expect the performance drop in variable frequency to be noticeable

Which makes me think Sony is going with the "traditional" console look. Series X form was built with the specs in mind. I'm thinking we hear about PS5 news late April

After todays news of TLOU getting delayed and GOT for now still scheduled for late June.

Do you think PS5 gets delayed ?

If it doesn't what changes do you see to the launch lineup ?

I think it is realistically a chance now. If things don't get better by June and there are production concerns, then good chance it gets delayed. Maybe things look better by June and we see normal launches or regional launches. But until we see less new cases each day and reached peak, outlook doesn't look good.

I wouldn't be surprised with GoT is delayed as well. I could see GoT and TLOU2 being cross gen releases. Probably 2-3 Console Exclusives and those cross gen titles. Hopefully things get better, personal safety is more important than games though.

Some FUD / problems - would take most things you can't verify with a grain of salt though.
