That looks great. The Pro and 1X have spoiled me graphically so while I can see and appreciate the graphical upgrades they don't wow me the same way. Diminished returns, I'm fine with that. I hope that this next generation is more about immersion being lost in the experience. I haven't gotten nearly enough mileage out of my surround setup this gen.

That demo had some serious Uncharted vibes and I can't even imagine what their next game will look like. That was awesome.NFL: Bills

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
The global illumination tool might be a big game changer if it lives to its potential. Lighting has a huge impact on visuals, bigger than many realize, and good global illumination that's easy to implement and run, relatively of course, can potentially be a big deal. The same can be said for the engine being able to handle all of those triangles. Games might reach even more ridiculous sizes, but creating and detailing them may be easier than ever before.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I just watched the tech demo like a hour ago. The flying part at the end was the part that really stood out the speed and just how real it looked. Makes me think about how much faster something like spider and his web swinging could be on ps5.Comment

The tech demo looked great with the flying part at the end being the highlight. Character model left a little to be desired as there was almost no detail in her face. Not happy that it was only running at 1440p at 30fps with no HDR or Ray Tracing. Should be awesome in a few years once Unreal Engine 5 becomes available for all the development studios.Comment

But that's how I want next gen to be shown off in the prelaunch period. I don't want to just see CGI/in-engine trailers. Even if it isn't showing off full capabilities of final console and what UE5 could end up being, it is still amazing.
This was just something built to show off what UE5 could end up being, it makes you wonder what Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Santa Monica, Guerrilla, and other PlayStation Studios can cook up once they learn how to push console to the metal.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
This definitely seems the year of remasters before start of next gen. Hopefully most of the remasters this year at least allow for higher resolution and frame rates on next gen hard ware.
I'm still hoping for a Metal Gear Solid 4 remaster on PS5. That's a game that would be perfect on next gen hardware. High resolution textures, higher detailed characters, higher resolution, faster loading, Tempest Engine, and Ray Tracing would do wonders on that game.Comment

If I can achieve much higher frames at a lower resolution next-gen I may sink a few hundred dollars into a second monitor just for the sake of first person shooters. I could also make use of it with my PC.Last edited by AUChase; 05-14-2020, 09:41 AM.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
It was just a tech demo to show off early capabilities from early PS5 dev kit. I would rather seen it with all bells and whistles. But with what the intention was, I'm satisfied with what was shown.

Looked great but I wasn't impressed. Show me actual games that are being released, regardless of the engine that they're running off of. Looked cool especially with the flying at the end but it's not like it was an actual game or open world running that.
It was just an 8 minute technical demonstration which I would much rather see done with real actual games that I will be playing.
As for Sony's internal studios, outside of Bend Studio which used UE4 for Days Gone, I believe that all of them use their own custom game engines.
Hopefully, their rumored showcase for June 4th is real and we can see actual gameplay from actual games that will actually be released.Comment

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment
