Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season

The more I think about it the more I'll likely just be waiting. Next exclusives set to release I care a lot about will be Horizon Zero Dawn. Everything else I may want to play can be done with my PC. I have a lower end PC and can target 1440 60FPS for a lot of games and that's okay with me.

This is going to sound backwards, but I prefer my FPS on console so I may just be waiting out the initial wave/feedback until the next Battlefield comes. I'm also finding out that there's a lot of benefit to being behind on games. I've scooped up so many critically acclaimed games for 15-30$ opposed to $60. I just finished Spider-Man and got my first ever Platinum and it cost me $20.00.

Still a chance I may get one, but if it becomes a fight or the price isn't right I'll wait. I would also like an all black version..

The horsepower is simply not there to realistically expect 60fps to become the norm with how console graphics are often tuned, especially at 4k. We're still probably at least an entire generation away, unfortunately, from 4k-60fps becoming more of a consistent possibility.

We'll see. If im proven to be wrong when the games get released and are analyzed by Digital Foundry, then I will admit as such. I'll leave it at that.

Hopefully PS4 digital purchases transfer over. It'll suck for those who have big catalog of digital games and they don't transfer over. But even then, what if most of your PS4 digital games are not BC for a long while. That'll be even worse because you couldn't sell it
        Thought this was confirmed already?

This generation represents the final transition from physical to digital, and after nearly 2 decades, it might be time to finally let go.

Sony has confirmed that players will be able*to transfer digital games from the PS4 to the PS5. Nearly all PS4 games will be supported at launch, so the only reason to buy the non-digital PS5 is if a significant portion of your PS4 collection is physical games.

          - NBA 2K21 - the one must-buy for me

          - Spider-Man - still haven't played the original, hoping I can play it on PS5 maybe

          - Ratchet & Clank - never played one of these before but that trailer was the biggest wow for me

          - Kena - not usually my type of game but looks pretty cool

          - Hitman - I enjoy the series but I'm not super passionate about it
Xbox one isnt until July. The previous one was like a 3rd party showcase mainly.

I'm getting the mini fridge and the router. lmao.

Xbox Series X showcase is in July, most likely towards the end. The May 7th Inside Xbox was for Indies/AA titles. It was overhyped and the marketing was bad. Sony was better but "future of gaming"? Hmmm, yeah in a sense meaning they are future games we'll be playing but anything revolutionary? Nope. Haven't seen anything that's revolutionary yet. And I personally don't need to nor am I expecting it. I'm expecting games to simply be BETTER from top to bottom and as long as the games are great and worth playing, that's completely fine by me. If I get a revolutionary game or two in the next generation, awesome but im not expecting it whatsoever.

Between the May 7th Inside Xbox and the PS5 show a few days ago, I added 12 games overall. 4 from Inside Xbox and 8 from the PS5 show. My next gen game total is currently up to 28 games including games like AC Valhalla, Outriders, WD Legion, Cyberpunk 2077, etc. that are cross-gen and multi-platform.

Next Gen is five months away and I already have a 28 game backlog. lmfao. I'm expecting to add at least one game from EA's showcase this coming week, a few from Ubisoft on July 12th and at least 3 from Microsoft's July event.

If Sony has another showcase in August which is heavily rumored, that will probably give me a few more games. I could be looking at a 40 game backlog BEFORE the two consoles even launch. So overall, im definitely much more hyped for next gen beforehand than I was for the current gen beforehand.

But you can’t even buy an external drive for the PS5 yet. Sony has to make a custom one available which will probably cost a fortune early on. I know I will want one but the cost is going to be stupid.

I'm so glad I'm old and none of this really matters to me much anymore... I don't even know how to explain or understand what 30 or 60 FPS even means... (don't mock - and no need to answer as I wouldn't understand). Got my son an early 17th birthday present - a gaming monitor. First thing he does is change all the specs and this stuff. Means zero to me. LOL! I'm a late adapter, so I'll just wait it out and keep playing my 360 for NBA 2K11 and my PS4 for the historical baseball rosters.

Yeah, that's a game I have digitally. Does that mean I can't play that game until 2nd half of 2021? Or will it just play natively?

I feel GTAV should have just relied on the PS5 Boost /Series X upgrades at launch, then drop that additional content in 2021. It doesn't need a 2nd remaster. Just raise resolution and frame rates and patch any performance issues

I don't see how any of the hype of the announcement makes any sense if it was playable on day 1 pre-enhancements. I haven't seen any clarifications or caveats that the standard game will be available thanks to backwards compatibility and then a new version will be out in 2021 (press conference said early 2021, print releases all day second half 2021... So another confusing message)

Who knows, we'll see. PS5 BC shouldn't be this hard to describe, not sure what the issue is.

I could be wrong, too. I don't expect devs to push for 60fps consistently at the moment, especially at 4k. Console games these days just aim for a locked 30 with no dips and then try to squeeze out whatever graphical detail they can to maintain that 30. I don't expect to see a change in that, not for the average game. Shooters may push for a locked 60 more consistently, but games like Assassins Creed and the likes are probably going to aim for a locked 30, especially at 4k.

I simply believe that the tech that's inside Series X will allow all that. Granted, it won't be Native 4K but I'll take lesser resolution for 60FPS locked and Ray Tracing. I'm pretty sure someone on the BRAP Podcast mentioned that Control uses tech that keeps the game at 1080P but the image quality makes the game look as if it's Native 4K, was running at 144FPS with full path Ray Tracing. I'm not sure of all the tech that's in PS5 as I have been following Xbox Series X a lot more and simply because they have the better overall console, better specifications and better tools. With that all said, im simply very confident in what Series X can do and hopefully, PlayStation 5 as well.
