Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season

I've always liked the XMB design that PS3 had. I also liked the backgrounds and themes that could be applied.

What I'm hoping for is something that really helps aspects of multitasking, whether it's regarding social media, multimedia, streaming media, etc.

Yea I think the interface can be improved on. I still get confused as to what is on the top bar and what's on the 2nd.

When you hear the Sony exec say that fans want 30fps because it is a filmic experience, I wanted to throw up.

This is why this next gen is overrated. Specially on PS5 where I fully expect their games to push visuals for that Filmic experience at 30fps

I get what they're getting at when they say that, and in some respects I agree. It depends on the game and the experience, though. Like for The Order: 1886, I totally see where they'd be coming from with that statement. Now, is part of that an excuse for not being able to achieve 60 FPS with that same resolution and fidelity? Sure. But it works...

            ... almost.

The problem is that a filmic experience would be 24 FPS (or 23.976 if you want to get specific), and that is vastly different from 30 FPS (the television/video look). If you don't think it is, think about all of those action scenes in movies when they go to 22 FPS and it's instantly recognizable (they crank up the shutter speed as well, but 30 FPS games without proper motion blur can't capture the right filmic look anyway).

That's why I've said I've been willing to accept certain games at that framerate. I don't think Ratchet & Clank should be one of them, though. That game series excels when at 60 FPS. It's meant for it. I'm really excited that Sackboy is going to take the 60 FPS leap.

60 FPS is a huge difference over 30 for me personally. I can definitely tell the difference.

The last game I will ever touch at 30fps will be on Friday and that is because I love that story. But once that is done. I am just playing on PC like I have been doing and on consoles only when it is at least 60fps.

Playing at 144fps and going to 30fps is such a huge change that regardless of the game it is hard to stomach. I cant do it in 2020

For the first time ever, me and XxGamerXx actually agree on something. We all better be careful as the world is coming to an end now. lmao.

Joking aside, I hate the film comparison because video games are NOT films. I'm NOT watching a game. I'm PLAYING them. Huge difference.

60FPS SHOULD BE THE FREAKING STANDARD for next generation. This is one of several reasons why im going with Series X as my primary gaming console. I always go with what I believe to be the superior console for every generation and when it comes to 60FPS (or even 120FPS), im much more confident in not only Xbox Series X over PlayStation 5 but it seems like Microsoft's first party studios are making the performance aspect a priority where as Sony isn't.

But whatever, PlayStation 5 will be my secondary exclusives only gaming console so whatever it is, it is.

A new Horizon video came out today not a lot of new info but they did say map is slightly bigger then first game and they are targeting a 2021 release. I kind of wonder if getting this video so shortly after the reveal means it could be a early 2021 game or something.

A lot of good info in the video but im wondering if there's going to be underwater combat. I know there's exploration but hoping there's combat as well.

This isn't an elitist question. It's a genuine question and I'm hoping to gain some perspective.

If FPS and graphical performance are someone's primary concern and they have the money to afford multiple consoles, to upgrade mid cycle, buy 10-15 games a year, etc.. why wouldn't you just invest in a PC? If your primary console is an xbox then Microsoft exclusives are available on PC now too.

I see people who buy everything under the sun spending all this energy on consoles every time around an I don't think consoles are necessarily catering to "hardcore gamers." They are convenient and for the most part relatively inexpensive and you get a lot of bang for your buck. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a console gamer because to be honest PC can be a little work and even something as simple as streaming or capturing gameplay is easier on console now and requires less extras.

I've owned every xbox and playstation. Next gen I plan to buy a PS5 at some point for exclusives, FPS with my clan, and it's easier for my kids. Those are my reasons. Just to clarify I don't disagree that 4K 60 should be a standard and I don't see it either. Knowing what I know now and looking back I just wish I had invested in a PC sooner if I was going to spend money on multiple consoles.

The biggest selling point for Sony to me is the exclusive library, backwards compatibility with most of my PS4 library (hoping we hear more about that soon) so I don't lose digital purchases, and if the SSD can genuinely improve load times/capability. If you owned a PC you wouldn't have to be so pressed to upgrade every console generation either. Just food for thought from a non-elitist point of view and someone who likes console gaming too.

Oh and this obviously don't apply to most people who are just going to buy one console and a few games every year. Console is definitely the way to go.

I know many aren't like me, but I know some are: I do have a PC.

                              - Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor
                              - Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
                              - Asus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB ROG Strix Gaming OC Video Card

I'm a PlayStation guy, and some games are just console-exclusive. My PC also isn't running on my home theater equipment (though theoretically it could).

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season

Simplicity probably has a lot to do with it. Turn on the controller, plug in a headset, go to friends list to invite, start game. Plus I think a lot of people who dedicate a lot of time to gaming even might not want to deal with the "complexities" of pc gaming. And unless crossplay becomes more widely used friends has a lot to do with it, and it is my primary reason for playing console.

Dont get me wrong, I have 4 beast pcs in the house (3950x/2080ti, 3800x/2080ti, i7700k/2080 super, i8700k/1070), but I also have every console released since the nes including 3 xbox one x, 2 ps4 pro (including the og models boxed up). I play my games on pc, but if not in the office it is easier to use a console than pc on a tv. Not to mention the others in the house would rather play on the consoles. Plus that means one digital copy of a game...one plays on the home console, I play in the office. On pc I need to buy the game for two libraries. Online friends are all on console so with the exception of modern warfare/warzone to play with ps4/xbox friends and the crossplay xbox games, I dont have a choice but to play console.

So for the majority of people who dont have all the stuff, it just makes more sense to stick with console. At least that's how I see it.
