I think it has to do with Covid-19 and wanting to make sure they have enough units at launch. As far as I know, Sony has said that PlayStation 5 will only be available in NA and Canada at launch with other regions being later in the year. I also believe that it's because both Sony and Microsoft want to price their consoles at $600 but don't want to be the first to do so especially when the other would probably under cut them.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see us go into October still waiting for the release date, price and when pre-orders go live.
Yeah exclusives. Cross-gen is easy to figure out. There was a rumor of a secret launch title. I don't buy it because it's just over 2 months away.

At this point, I think Sony will be first. If Microsoft isn't going to reveal any new next gen news at the Tokyo Game Show on Sept 24, then they're dead set on waiting it out.

I know some have said Demon's Souls Remake could be a launch title but I don't see that happening because if it was, why would Sony not announce it back in June? I don't see any major shocker or surprise at launch especially considering that marketing for that surprise game would have had to start already.

I can see an announcement for a future game (like the heavily rumored Silent Hill reboot) but not an actual launch day release title. As long as Miles Morales is in fact a launch title, Sony doesn't need anything else. Hell, they don't even need Miles Morales to be honest.

Miles at launch along with a massive amount of cross-gen multi-platform titles and a few timed exclusives is more than enough for Sony and PlayStation 5. Plus, Ratchet will probably be in that March/April spring window with Gran Turismo 7 in the Fall 2021. I would think Demon's Souls would be Summer 2021 or perhaps late May. Something like that.

I do believe that Sony will go first. Only question is do they go $400 and $500 or $500 and $600. A wildcard option could be $400 and $600. I don't see Microsoft going past $500 for Series X and $300 for Series S. But we'll see.

On a somewhat related side note - I ordered the LG CX 55" OLED from Best Buy today. Was going to wait but to get the 55" for the same price as the 48", it was too good to miss out on. Plus, I got an extra $50 off for being a My Best Buy member which if you create an account with Best Buy, everyone has. Will be getting it delivered next Friday. So for $1450 plus tax, it was an easy decision especially since im super hyped for next gen!!!

I just don't see Sony revealing their price before Microsoft. At this point, it doesn't feel like they need to. If they think Microsoft is going to go with a $200 discless version, they want to wait that out so that they don't release a discless version costing double.

It isn't going to hurt Sony to wait.

I just don't think the Series S would be $200. Mainly because you still got the One S in the market. By discontinuing One X, One S.AD, One, they're free to price Series X however they want. But with still having One S, I don't see One S being less than $200. I see Series S being $249-300 minimum

Sony is in the position where they don't "have to". But the longer you wait, more it seems like the price is $600. But I don't want it to go to October and we still don't know. Even for logistic reasons, these major retailers need to know as well.

All fun speculation of course after reading the last few posts, but 400$ would make me take a serious look at the system. Still hesitant to buy a launch console when an inevitable slim and pro are years down the line. That and finding something to do with my PS4 slim

Well we just got news a few hours ago that Xbox is going with 300 and 500 for there price with November 10th release date so hopefully now Sony will stop this stupid not giving news stuff real soon and give us price and date. I am expecting 400 and 500 and similar release date.

                      I agree

I hope that we will get an announcement next week. Sony said they wasn't revealing any PS5 news this week due to Spotlight on PSVR. But, with the Xbox news out now, wonder if that changes now. It would be nice even if it is a Announcement of an Announcement. $399 and $499 would be good price for the consoles.
Still need the Teardown, UI, Features.

I'm expecting three different prices PS5 could be. $400/$500, $400/$600 and $500/$600. I truly wouldn't be shocked if the PS5 Disc is $600.

Most likely $400/$500. Still think $600 is steep for average consumer. Microsoft will do well if Sony matches price at $500. They can use the power narrative against base PS5 and $300 XSS as the entry point to next gen. Especially with Xbox All Access plan.
Sony just needs to price match Series X and have PS5DE be $100 than Series X.

There’s a zero percent chance Sony makes another PS3 mistake. It will not be more expensive than Xbox. Sony nearly closed their gaming section because of it.

Exactly. Sony isn't going have a situation where it is $100 more and less powerful. $500 is the max. The real question is do they try to compete with Series S. PS5DE has to be at most $400. Pricing it at $449.99 for DE, would give Series S a $150 cushion.
