Re: Microsoft Reveals the New Xbox Series X, Arrives in Holiday 2020

Overall, the Inside Xbox was meh. Not much that screams out "next gen". I didn't have high expectations but they hyped it up as gameplay. Just "in-engine" game trailers. It would have been better off actual gameplay that shows off what the power of Series X can do
The Yakuza game does look interesting, I never played any Yakuzas, but I will give it a try.

I didn't get to watch much of it, but I'd expect to see more gameplay from publishers/developers now that this event has completed where it makes sense. Some like EA will of course hold out anything for their own event in June.

Re: Microsoft Reveals the New Xbox Series X, Arrives in Holiday 2020

Watched Inside Xbox and the biggest negatives were -

        1. Assassin's Creed Valhalla showing an in-engine trailer instead of actual gameplay. Something had to change because up until yesterday, it was announced as actual gameplay.

        2. Putting "gameplay" into the headline is arguably majority's biggest issue. If they just removed that word, they would have been fine.

        3. Streaming wasn't the highest quality. After each reveal, every game was posted on Xbox YouTube page at 4K/60FPS. Seems that the video should have been uploaded as it was previously recorded instead of live streamed.

        Positives -

        1. They announced at the start that the July Inside Xbox will be all their first party games including gameplay of Halo Infinite and Shinobi062 says that third parties will also be on that show. I'm now fully expecting it to be the AAA titles as opposed to the AA/Indies that were shown today.

        2. Enjoyed the format. Very little talking and wasting time. Just give me game trailer after game trailer.

        3. Bright Memory Infinite looks great and it's being developed and made by one freaking guy. Insane. There is a preview on Steam which is Episode 1 if I remember correctly. Said to be good but short.

        4. The Ascent looks like a superior version of Ruiner. Definitely hyped for this game.

        5. Other games im interested in is Chorus, The Medium, Second Extinction and Bloodlines 2.

Overall, would probably rate it a 6/10. It was fine. They just needed to remove "gameplay" from the headline and let it be known that it was mostly going to be AA showcase. These two things would have solved the problem easily.

Been on PC for a while, and that footage they showed is playable on PC right now if you have an Nvidia card.

More on backward compatibility - https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/05/...compatibility/
The team was not content to just rely on the increased hardware performance to improve your playing experience. The team developed new platform level capabilities to ensure all of your games continue to get even better. In partnership with the Xbox Advanced Technology Group, Xbox Series X delivers a new, innovative HDR reconstruction technique which enables the platform to automatically add HDR support to games. As this technique is handled by the platform itself, it allows us to enable HDR with zero impact to the game’s performance and we can also apply it to Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles developed almost 20 years ago, well before the existence of HDR.

In addition, the new Quick Resume feature was designed to not only work with new games, but it can also be enabled for backward-compatible titles. Quick Resume enables players to resume exactly where they left off, across multiple titles, ensuring gamers can get right back to the fun in an instant.

All of these advances happen at the platform level and require no additional work from title developers.

I don't know how to feel about automatic HDR. I don't think we are at a point technologically where it is going to look all that great for a lot of titles.

The Xbox BC team is simply freaking incredible. It's amazing what they've accomplished in the last five years. I'm hoping for Alan Wake in Native 4K, 60FPS and HDR!!!

I am only buying one system for at least the first year. I have grown to be an Xbox guy so I am leaning towards this. However I have to be able to play MLB The Show. It's the only reason I have a PS4. I know it's going multi-platform, but I hope it's gonna be next year and not another year after that. If not next year, then I will have a touch decision to make.

It was said to be next year, 2021. Even if it isn't, you own a PS4 so you'll still be able to play it without buying a PS5.

Saw this yesterday. Highly doubtful but Microsoft should release the Xbox Series X at $400 and in 2022 once Xbox One is no longer manufactured, release Xbox Series S at $200. I believe that Microsoft should be very aggressive with the price.

Although the CEO is finally fully on board with the Xbox division being truly competitive in the gaming space, I don't think that Microsoft will go that far in terms of eating that kind of loss on the new consoles. $500 and $300 is what I expect because those price still have them losing money on the hardware, just not a ridiculous amount.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Yeah, im realistically expecting $500 and $300 as well but the cheaper model will be the model that 90% of consumers purchase which means that the $500 model would be sitting on store shelves which still makes it a monetary loss. Better to lose money on the console with it being in consumers homes as opposed to on store shelves.

$399 Series X and $200 Series S would be hard to keep in stock. Would love it at those prices, and if they can pull those off I think we can thank the success of Game Pass allowing them to price at those levels.

The price of the Xbox Series X will be lower than PS5, an insider said while revealing that Microsoft will soon introduce a Series S…

Thinking about it, im expecting Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S to be launched on the same day at $500 and $300 but if Microsoft can somehow release them at $400 and $200, that would be absolutely massive for the brand and platform.
