    Re: PlayStation 5 ($499) and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition ($399) - Releases on Novem

    I gotta be honest

    The PS5 is super impressive and I am really blown away by it.

    Lets talk about the pros and cons

    The console itself IMO is ugly and huge, I hate the way it looks vertical and do not like the way it looks horizontal either. It is real ugly imo but it performs like a dream.

    Downloaded the following games

    Demon Souls { Freaking amazing game at 60fps, just a show piece}

    Miles Morales { Played just 5 minutes and in performance mode it looks amazing and plays so well with the rumble on the duel sense}

    Days Gone { The fact that the game got a resolution boost and is now 60fps is beyond words, I am going to replay the game again as the first 10 minutes was amazing. 60fps just makes a world of a difference on console}

    God of War { No update to resolution mode as it still 30fps which I will not do on consoles any more. The 60fps mode is great but 1080p not for me, I hope they do 60fps on the high resolution mode}

    Madden 21 { Was not going to buy this just to test because I know the update comes in December but was hoping that the fps would be locked at 60fps the whole time and it was not} Deleted right away from EA Access

    Spider Man remastered { Another great update to the graphics and performance at 60fps, just amazing}

    Ghost of Freaking Tshushima { Resolution and performance modes now are 60fps and it is glorious, this game is amazing at 60fps and should be played again}

    And to finish it off I had to test MLB the show 20 and let me tell you this was worth the purchase alone. OMG the fake 4k sharper mode which I assume is about 1700 to 1800p which is still very good is now locked at 60fps and it is glorious. OMG

    I am in love with the dual sense controller, it just feels great in the hands

    But the biggest positive that comes with a negative in some way is the download speeds of games. I have the series X and it also downloads games faster then last gen but PS5 OMG it rivals my pc in download speed. It is amazing. I download spider man remastered which is like 55gb in just 4 minutes. But you no longer can download up to 3 things at once like PS4 which kinda sucks}

    Modern Warfare I downloaded but still looks like crap on ps5 as there is no update except high resolution guns in war zone which i do not care for.

    I will keep playing COD on PC as it can do 144fps

    The PS5 makes a bit more noise over series x when starting games but for the most part it is quiet and that is a big win.

    I have 2K21 on series X and love it, but want to see if PS5 does anything better before buying it there as I do not want to double dip for same experience

    All in all, i am really loving the PS5.....

        Ugh this better not be the case I really have no interest in that but I guess I would stick with it if I got it since I only got charged for digital. I don’t use discs anymore though so prefer the look of the console without the disc drive.

          I saw a guy on twitter posting about it which is really disappointing

          For the buyer he might not want that awful disc drive sticking out and for those that did want the disc drive we paid 500 and others who paid 400 are getting the same thing we are

            Oh, and make sure you get a good quality HDMI cable. You may need one. Your 4 year old cheap one may need an upgrade.
            This! I got an 86 inch 4K HDR LG on sale at Sam's Club a year ago. I tried to be cheap and bought the blue/black Amazon 4K cables thinking what's the difference and had them run through the wall. After a few weeks in the middle of gaming on the Pro or 1X the screen would black out. Sometimes it was so bad I had to unplug the cable from the system and put it back in. I know it was the 4K because the same cable type is hooked to my cable box and it has never done that. I went on and sprung for the good stuff this time. Those cables make a difference.

              Any recommendations on a good cable, not up to date on them but don’t want to use my old one from PS4 if it won’t be as good.

                Put this in the other thread, but I am just so cheery now, lol.

                I've had some ups and downs with the PS5 preorder with mine being cancelled, my Gamestop being very shady and that didn't end well, to FINALLY capturing the PS5 last night on PlayStation Direct.

                It arrives tomorrow after I am done with work, and I cannot wait to play this thing all weekend!

                Also, I am pumped for Thanksgiving break. Teaching this year has been rough, but Monday-Wednesday gaming will be amazing at least!

                  Yea man I agree MLB the show looks so much sharper and way smoother now. I agree it does make a little more noise than the Xbox series x and it runs hotter too. I want to play days gone but I’ll wait until it goes on sale again. I agree with you as well. Download speeds are insane. I connected both my PS4 pro and ps5 via Ethernet cable while using WiFi and it downloaded Mlb the show in less than 10 minutes. I couldn’t believe it. I wonder if downloading a new game is just as fast from the PSN store.

                    Don’t over pay for any HDMI cables. That’s the biggest ripoff ever. Just get a cable from Amazon that does HDMI 2.1 48GBs and you’ll be fine. I’m actually using the ones that came with the consoles. I just wish the one the ps5 came with was a little longer.

                      Looks like the one PS5 I preordered from Target for a friend arrives tomorrow along with my own I pre ordered one from Gamestop. I didnt pay for release day shipping on either but I did pre order and pay release day shipment for NBA2K21 from Gamestop. It looks like it won't arrive till Monday?

                          You don't need to spend big money on cables. If you have a 4k tv then all you need is a good certified HDMI cable. I found this out the hard way with my OLED and ATV 4k. To take advantage of all this goodness coming out, you need a good cable.

                          Good news. They are not expensive. I bought mine at Costco but something like this is fine.

                            Looks like Best Buy dropped the ball with the shipping for some people. If you ordered for in store pickup you were fine but some opting to have it shipped home are seeing coming on Monday. Those people will be without the console for the whole weekend

                              The better cables have to do with audio more than video. If you have a good quality sound system (ie, not a soundbar) i'd recommend better cables.
