Glad my Playstation Gold Wireless headset still works with the PS5. Still needs its adaptor which takes one of the 3 USB ports on the console, though (1 in the front, 2 in the back).

For all the horror stories I'd read about delays and cancellations here and elsewhere, Best Buy really came through for me. Still doesn't change the fact that I had to be really lucky on preorder night in September to even get one, but everything after that happened right on schedule.

Let the transferring begin...

Edit: Oh boy. LAN Transfer is legit. 1 minute to copy all 60 GB of MLB The Show 20.

Whoops, maybe not....something went wrong. PS4 blue-lighted near the end and then I got a message about it failing once the PS5 restarted. This is my concern with the RPG I was playing - I'm over a hundred hours in on it and can't afford to lose the data somehow with a bad transfer.

Okay.....this is a problem. So, like I said the PS4 blue-lighted and went into its shut-down process late in that MLB The Show transfer for some reason (I don't know why, my PS4 and 5 are both running into the same monitor so I have to switch the inputs back and forth to use each one). That, of course, caused the transfer to fail and the PS5 displayed a message to that effect. But when I tried again it couldn't detect my PS4 to prepare for the transfer, and it turns out the PS4 was still on its transfer screen from before, essentially softlocked. And even rebooting didn't take it off of that screen. Safe Mode DID work thankfully, and from there I was able to rebuild the database and then the PS4 started up normally. And the Show still boots on the PS4 so I don't seem to have corrupted anything.

Going to try this again but with a smaller game. I figured 1 minute for a 60 GB game sounded a little too good to be true.

Edit: Same thing happened, and to be specific, the error the PS5 gave after this failed was "cannot rebuild the database". The games don't show up so they aren't installed, but the space does appear to get allocated for them because my free space keeps getting smaller each time this happens. Since I don't have much on the system at this point I'm probably just going to factory reset to see if I get that space back.

This is all weird....I did copy over the save game data without issue earlier, though I did that through the wireless network and not LAN. Maybe a bad cable or something?

Edit 2: Alright, one more time...I switched cables and didn't get a database error when the PS4 rebooted (that's a necessary step apparently, and it happens during the preparation, not the actual transfer), and I have a "data transfer from PS4" in my downloads screen, which seems to mean it's working. It's....not as as fast as I'd hoped, though. Will probably be about 8 hours before The Show fully transfers at the pace it's going. I'm honestly not sure it's actually using LAN for it to take that long, but at this point I'm just going to let it go and see if it works. Thanks for tuning in to my live self-troubleshooting session.

The graphics, FPS and load time upgrade on PS5 for Warzone is great.

I can’t wait to download Cold War for it.

I was iffy on opening up the PS5 but the upgrade in above on Warzone is enough for me.

The controller feels great. Fits my hands a lot better than DS4.

I’m disappointed there is no ‘Pro’ controller, although I’m sure that’ll be coming.

You can no longer turn off the PS5 by holding the playstation button. You have to tap it and then scroll all the way to the right. Really dumb

Try just tapping the PS button.. click left (it’s a carousel so it can go both ways), and click again to turn it off.

It’s no different than holding the button on PS4, scrolling to turn off and clicking.

Not on any fanboy type shizz but I’m digging the PS5 more than the Series X. Love the controller and the new dashboard. This is coming from a Xbox diehard.

Question about the PSVR adapter. I requested on on November 10th. Havent heard back from Sony yet regarding it being shipped or anything. Has anyone here requested one and if so, how long did it take for Sony to ship one out to you or get in contact with you?

Really don’t understand these two companies to have limited availability like this especially considering everyone eventually will upgrade to the newer systems anyway. Tits not a marketing ploy because the fact that games eventually start only coming out on next gen or have features only for next gen will organically push people towards next gen anyway. Such a dumb aspect we go through every new console cycle.

I was telling my boys I felt Xbox kinda messed up by not bringing a new UI for the series x. In a way it takes away the feeling of getting something new.

Only got to play my PS5 for alittle bit last night. So far it is a pretty amazing. The only game I have right now is Spiderman/Miles Morales. Dumb question for anyone else who has this launch edition game on the PS5. After you put in the code that comes with it to download more suits, exactly how do you download them on the PS5 store? I put in the code and it was accepted but nothing happened and the new suits did not appear in the game?

My wife HATES the appearance of the PS5, but even she was impressed by the unlocked download speeds. Getting 300+ mbps.
