Yea this was a complete mess. Now they’re saying they will support the Ps4 for 4 more years when before they said they wouldn’t, and how do you say the preorders start today and yesterday at 7pm a bunch of stores started selling the preorders? Xbox threw shade at Sony on Twitter last night saying theirs will be organized and people will know when to preorder. Went to Best Buy this morning to try and get a 3080 graphics card and they said all ps5 sold out. People were pissed and were telling the store employees “Sony said preorders start today”

I'm sure when Microsoft announced their retail prices Sony cringed because Sony will lose $'s in the early rounds but they know they'll recoup it at a later time.
Which is exactly why they should have done a better job evening the playing field like MS did instead of the Wild West **** show that was last night.

Some consumers are only looking to be on one platform and now they’ll be switching to MS if the can pre-order their console without the hassle PlayStation put them through without anything to show for it.

Alienating consumers is not a smart move anytime, but even more so with the current state of the economy.

I downloaded a Chrome extension to keep reloading the tab so I could do other stuff went to google did a search for "PS5 Amazon Twitter" and let the universe decide. Luckily I looked over at the right time when the guy on twitter posted the links. Then shared it here... made sure I got mine first of course lol.

Got the digital version and an extra controller. Now I can actually anticipate the launch games.

If you think about it Mgoblue what's the difference between this coming generation and last generation? SSD? 4K? 120FPS? There really isn't much. The games will still look and play sweet.

Come on Art. This isn't a street date video game that they don't want on the market to spoil things.

If the PS3 life span lasted until 2017 did you really think with nearly 115 millionPS4 units sold, it was going to last 4 years? Not sure where you heard otherwise.

Evening the playing field? Microsoft did a hell of a job controlling the costs of their machine to a minimum. Not many with the exception of Google and Apple would be able to do this without flinching. They're competing with an almost unlimited bank account!

              That’s precisely what I figured.

Was going to get up early and walk to Target to see if I could pre-order in store but figured it would be a waste of time and wasn’t worth the risk (the air quality in Portland is the worst in the world right now due to all these fires).

If I can’t pre-order one in the next few days I may just say screw it and see if I can get an Xbox (something I wasn’t going to do until the fiasco that was last night) or try and live-up outside Target on launch day and see if I can get one that way like I did with the Switch.

I don't think Sony is the one that looks bad. They said pre orders started the 17th the only one that came close to that is Amazon. Walmart said screw it let's do this then everyone else followed suit. Even if Sony "let" them start pre orders early it's easy to just through the blame onto them the retailers. With the biggest retailer Amazon and even the Sony invite pre order emails not going out until later in the evening it's even easier to throw the blame on Walmart, Target and Gamestop.

Let's be honest a shoddy preorder launch isn't going to change the minds of anyone that really wants a PS5. Console wars on the consumer side is and will always be dumb. I've never owned an xbox for no other reason than I started with an original PS and it's habit at this point.

I'm fine with doing it, but say it and don't go back. If MS does anything like this people bitch about them being unorganized. Sony literally said in interviews that Next Gen is a new generation and they specifically are doing this for a reason. MS was getting dinged by guessing that games won't be as good because they're on both generations, so there's just no consistency. It's a bad look IMO.

Oh, next generation is coming. You probably won't care much about it but many like me can't wait.

Evening the playing field was referring to a hard pre-order date being enforced.

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t they say the Miles Morales was only coming to the ps5 when they first showed the game? And yesterday they said it’s now also coming to the PS4?

It may have changed mine. I wasn’t even considering purchasing an XBOX this time, but I am now. And instead of getting an all digital PS5 on launch I can wait to get one with a drive and will just purchase PS games used.

I'll bet you when the Series S/X goes on preorder it will be mayhem. Lets say Microsoft says 12:01 on such a date. That means Walmart, Best Buy, Target, ect. ect servers will be inundated at that time probably with the exception of Amazon lol.
