But this wasn't a "street date" this was a date for pre-orders. I am extremely skeptical that Sony would even entertain actually trying to penalize a retail giant like Walmart for selling their pre-orders a day earlier then Sony announced they would be. There is a huge difference between selling an item early and selling a pre-order early.

Another poster brought this to my attention last night. See below

      Pre-order questions

When will I be charged for a pre-order?
When you place a pre-order, Target will send an authorization hold request to your card issuer. The authorization hold is not an actual charge and will eventually expire and drop off the account based upon the time frame set by your card-issuing bank. If the authorization hold expires before the item’s release date or before the order is ready to be shipped, the authorization will automatically renew. If any attempt to renew the authorization fails, the order will automatically be cancelled. You won’t be charged for your order until it ships.

If you used a regular credit card then you are good but I used a debit card and each time Target re-authorizes my funds better have enough or it will cancel.

There will always be a secondary market. The authorities have bigger issues than worrying about someone making a couple hundred on a Playstation. Hell they are barely responding to home invasions.

This so so true and I believe this is why the 3080 cards sold out instantly online this morning. They sold out in seconds. I was up and refreshing the page nonstop at 9am and didn’t get a chance to see it available.

I stood in line at GameStop this morning in the pouring rain for four hours, but was able to pre-order the disc version.

I wonder if these retailers will have any consoles on the shelves come release day. I haven't been able to preorder it it anywhere.

I was able to snag a EVGA RTX 3080 from Newegg this morning. Guess I can't be too upset.

They absolutely will, but you better get up early and get in line.

I did this at Target when the Switch was released. I’m not in the metro area, so there weren’t that many people waiting when I got there, but staff did have tickets they gave to everyone so you knew if you could purchase one or not and there wasn’t any craziness when they opened the doors.

Since it releases on a school day, crowds shouldn't be too bad. I can always call the truancy police (that still a thing?) lol

It is kind of scummy how there are people out here with 3 and 4 preorders while others a waiting and hoping for 1. What can you do really, though? I was watching a YouTube vid (cant remember the guys name) and he was saying how Sony may have done us a favor by opening the preorders like they did because it didn't give the scalpers with bots a chance to make a crazy run on the merchandise. That appears to be the case with the new PC graphic card. There was a scrum for PS5, and I'm happy to have gotten a preorder, but at least it seems like actual fans did benefit. I want to get the Series X as well but I'm gonna hold off until next year, I know I dont anyone anything but 1 next gen system is enough for now.

Well, good luck to the scalpers. People built bots to bid against all the RTX 3080 and drive the price upwards of 20k. Scalpers are going to be stuck with the cards for awhile. I've already read some of the same individuals are about to employ the bots against the PS5 listings on ebay.

There was a whole lot of people talking about doing that to PS5 scalpers on Reddit today and I hope they follow through with that.

It is a ****ty thing to do to begin with, but add on the pandemic where so many people are looking for an escape from all the terrible **** they are dealing with and that extra console could have meant the world to someone else instead of lining some jerk’s pockets.

Plus it's not like anyone really wants to stand in line right now, especially if you have people at higher risk at home...My daughter has a autoimmune disease so we have to be careful per the doctors...we pick up groceries at the store vs. going inside, so it'd be hard for me to swing a 4 hour excursion waiting for some system LOL
