Yeah I'll bump up my sub for a month, see if it prompts any habit changes in the short term but no real surprises, just monetizing their catalog and bundling PS Now.

A good first step, hope they keep going.

As it looks, besides PS3 games, the rest should be downloadable. Not interested in Game Trials and those included PS5 games I either have or not interested. But I'm leaning towards getting the premium version because the amount of included games make it worth it for me.

I just wonder how it will work as far as existing memberships. I think Essential just rolls over as is. But I don't think I saw how it works if you choose Extra or Premium

So, an oversimplification of what was announced.

$59.99 keeps you where you are.
$99.99 gets you half of PSNow.
$119.99 gets you the other half of PSNow.

Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

Except There will be ps1 ps2 & ps3 games of games you can play + the way I understood it they will continue to add more old games to where hopefully we can get almost the entire ps1 ps2 ps3 psp game library to play over time..

This would make the change worth it.. hopefully this is there plan & they continue to expand the library weekly or monthly & never remove games like they did with PS now...

Too bad i have all those initial games already and wasn't God of War part of the PS+ essentials so that's not new. Seems reasonably priced though. Looks like a solid service was hoping they'd include Crunchyroll. I don't watch much anime these days but would have been a nice addition.

I'm not really interested in older games though and already have a back log of the normal PS+ games over the years.

For now it looks like I'll be sticking with the bottom tier.

Pretty.much don't expect them to follow the gamepass model of games coming out the day it is released.

But likely to come to the service 12-16 months later.

Yep, currently PS Now has basically nothing from PS1, PS2 or PSP, so that is more or less the drawing card for the top tier.

I'd be more interested in the 2nd tier, but I really have to see which games are included.

I called it an oversimplification because, while it was not going to hit every point, and generally covered the announcement.

PSNow has PS1, PS2, and PS3 games on it now, so that's not new.

Yes, they will continue to add old games, just like they do now. That is also not new to the service.

They will continue to add new games every month, just like they do now, and they will continue to "refresh" it by removing "old" stuff.

There is very little "new" with these new subscriptions.

Yeah, I'll stay with the basic PS Plus sub. I have essentially all the PS4 games I am remotely interested in through sales over the past generation. I just finished Mafia 1 and Mafia 2 Definative Edition on thr PS4. I still have my PS3 and physical copies of games I like and I only play College Hoops 2K8 and NCAA Football occasionally. I could be interested in the PS2 and PS1 catalog but I'd have to see the offerings and even then, I think I'm good.

I know a lot of people are into this but I don't care not going to pay for old games when I can just play them already. Now if we had true bc with ps1-ps3 that would be different. Would love to be able to put a ps3 disc into PS5 and play it so I could unplug my PS3 has I have so many systems plugged into my tv

So after being a Sony guy since the beginning I have to say I am deeply saddened by this garbage attempt to collect $ for a crap service. This is really the only issue I have had with Sony maybe ever. But the push to try the cash grab from a Game Pass rival. Xbox hits the mark on the head for its game pass model. Once again all Sony sees is dollar signs and try’s to hurry and put out a subscription service that is lackluster as hell. Old games are cool and I have no issue with them. But for double what psn is now and you get no day 1 titles is worthless. By the time they will come to the service I am sure you will have been able to find that game for well below half of the price from when it released. Until Sony wants to offer a true competitor to game pass I will stick with my $60 a year psn so I can play online. Will just play more on my Xbox for game pass type of stuff.
