I went ahead and picked both up. I had 2 $5 reward zone coupons at BB, then I priced match on the Chamillionaire, ended up paying $15 for both, not too bad

What other recent releases have been good? I'm more of a mainstream fan.
If you don't have the new Ghostface Killah album, go ahead and pick it up.

Da Backwoodz album in nice also. The way they sampled Willy Wonka was perfect.

I heard Mos Def is releasing his third album on September 19th, but I haven't been able to find any news on this at all. Has anybody else heard this?

The new single is up on Mos' website: LINK

Can I get some Jay-Z recommendations? I haven't gotten into him yet and thought I'd start looking.

Reasonable Doubt should be your first listen to the real Jay Z b4 the come up. Lyrically his best work imo. It still gets heavy rotation from me weekly.

On the otherhand, nothing comes close to Reasonable Doubt in his catalog and everything else will be really disappointing.

                              I love Jay-Z's beats... I hate Jay-Z...

the worst is when he is featured by somebody (who isn't named Beyonce)... and he sucks *** like he doesn't even try because its not his own track... that is the most annoying thing about Jiggaman.

Sometimes now, but from '95-'01, he killed his guest shots. The track he was on from Lil' Cease's album...wow. His verse on Minute Man, his verse on Young G's...he only started mailing it in after The Blueprint. And that's another Jigga Man album you should check, Fresh Tendrils. It brought sample-based production back to the radio. Check out anything really. The problem with Jay-Z, as is the problem with any mainstream, major label, mega-star, is sifting through the crap. Every Jay solo had it's share of moments.
