    Question:

I was reading some reviews on the album at amazon..and a lot of them were mentioning how BET refuses to play Little Brother's single "Lovin' It" because it's too intelligent for their audience. I wonder how true this is?

I haven't heard anything about it, I dunno how truthful that can be. I don't think BET would release a statement like that. And they played some of Mos Def's stuff off New Danger and I Can from Nas, etc. Not quite like Lovin' It, but I can't imagine they'd use that excuse to not play a video.

But Phonte is just as nice lyrically as anyone in the game right now, even Jay and Nas.
Drive Slow isn't even close to Paul Wall's best(nor is he better than Z-Ro or Chamillionaire) but it works well in the context of the album. I guess it's up to what you're looking for. I think the guest appearances took this album up a notch.

Everybody steals from everybody. For every Biggie line that Jay has "bitten", he has 10 more of his own lines that are much better

Exactly, I have a six page MS Word document of all his stolen lines. Most from BIG, some from others. Also a few are a stretch but most are blatant. If anyone wants it I'll post it. I think half the reason most Jay fans don't realize how much he bites is because he bits artists who aren't mainstream, and tracks/lines that Jay fans never would hear.

That's why I'll never have total respect for Jigga, I can't mention him as one of the greatest emcees. Too much biting, that and the pathetic start of his career, trying anything that was commericially hot at the moment to get his name known.

I wonder how many Jay-Z dickriders have heard tracks like The Originators. Dude just seems as fake as they come to me.

If you think Jay-Z is a biter, you are probably just uneducated in this game...or a *****. It's really as simple as that. Every rapper flips, borrows, or adopts rhymes from other rappers, it has been going on for a long time. Just look at the "Heard It All Before" section in XXL, they find 5 instances every month?many of those where Jay is the lender. When Jay does it, there is one distinct difference; he uses lines from songs that everyone knows. Pretty much everyone who listens to Jay, listened to Biggie, they listened to Pac, so it is pretty damn easy to identify Big's contribution to "I Just Wanna Love Ya."

But I'll bet you had no idea when Ghost flipped nearly an entire verse from an old Divine Force song called "Holy War." How many people knew? How many kids have even heard of Divine Force? Several emcees, from Method Man to Talib Kweli to Erick Sermon borrowed from Audio Two last year alone. But how many even know Audio Two's classic "Top Billin" and all the times it has been used in rappers rhymes? Run DMC have had more lines used than I could even begin to count, by just about every emcee alive. KRS-One has borrowed from Kurtis Blow, and Divine Force for that matter. The list goes on and on.

Yet all the haters continue to take shots at Jay because they happen to recognize his source, unbeknownst to how many other rappers do it every year just because they aren't schooled. Just look at the Slick Rick line from that audio clip. The song is called "The Ruler's Back," Slick Rick's nickname was The Ruler (which Jay even points out in the song). So naturally, Jay flips a Slick Rick line in the song. But this is biting? Not paying homage to the man? Is it really that hard to figure that out? Or maybe some cats just don't know Slick Rick was the original Ruler. Or maybe they just don't care cause it would mean they could hate Jay less.

There are about 40 bars in that audio clip that Jay-Z has been accused of biting. In his career I'll take an educated guess and say Jay has spit 12,000 bars, give or take. More importantly, most of those bars have been incredibly clever, witty and quotable. Does anyone ever claim Jay's best lines are those one's he has borrowed? No. So Jay has borrowed lines in about 0.4% of the bars he has spit. So did he decided to borrow those lines to pay homage or to put his own spin on a line he liked, or is it because he just wasn't talented enough to come up with a few more bars? He could handle those other 12,000, but that 40 was just more than he could handle. Get f***ing serious

FOUND this along time ago .. ive heard jays earlier stuff , he was sick then and hes sick now .j hova=god mc , hes that dude

Its true. There was an audio file circulating around a couple weeks ago and apparently, this topic was being discussed. I really wouldnt put it past BET since they have put a ban on A LOT of the old school hip hop acts which prevents them from showing any of the videos put out by those acts.

With all this talk about Jay being the best ever, do you think he would still be considered that if 2Pac and Biggie were still alive? Better yet, would he even be as big as he is now if those two were still around?

2pac, was lacking in a lot of areas , however hes still one of the best cuz he was deep -just a thorough dude . they have classes on him at colleges on his poetry and song lyrics which is why i think its funny when ppl say he sucked or is overrated.

biggies career as we know was cut short . i think big was the most talented rapper ever . he was just rawwwww . had he made at least three more albums he wouldve been the god mc . but for now j hova is the god mc...i think he would be just as big if those two never died, hes just too sick . since i heard reasonable doubt i knew he was that dude .

LMAO at paying homage, when in the **** did biting become synonymous with paying homage? Does Nas bite a Rakim line five times an album? NO. Does Cormega bite a Kool G. Rap line in every other track? NO. Sure, every rapper has borrowed a verse or bar here and there. NONE have done it as much as Jay. I've listened to rap for a long time and sure I know about Top Billin', the song gets bit alot, as a matter of fact it was just done again by AZ on his new album. Ghostface is one of my favorite rappers, so please dude.....stop making assumptions.

There's a reason why people don't get on other emcees for biting like they do with Jay because he bites WAY MORE THAN OTHER RAPPERS. Also, these people who are biting in XXL are insignificant rappers. They aren't claiming to be the best rapper alive, best of all-time, etc. Do me a favor if "so many other emcees bite", then for just ONE other rapper, come up with 72 lines they bit. That Word document I got is 6 pages long and there's about a dozen lines per page. I'm not asking you to do that for any legend, or 10 rappers, just one. Find me one other rapper who's done that. And the part where you're wrong is that Jay only bites from well known rappers and songs. That's total BS. That's why most mainstream fans don't think he bites alot.

And you're statement that he flips every line better than the original is just a patheticly blind opinion. Clearly you can't be told any different than Jay is "the god mc". Once I read you're "Jay was hot on The Originators" I'd seen enough. I've dealt with enough Jay freaks over the years. Jay can do no wrong, every track he spits out is classic. Almost has bad as Eminem jockriders.

How is that "total ownage"? Because it's his own sneaker? Hahaha, wtf is THAT? So he owns a business, therefore that makes him a better rapper? Get real dude. Wipe that Jay-Z manjuice outta your ear.
