Podcast from Lost producers on season 3...

    Interesting bits-
    - The island was visible but only for an instant. It was also visible for an instant on 9/22/04 when the plane crashed.

    - The foot statue-represents the history and archeology of the island. Season three will explore what happened on the island before Dharma arrived in the late 70's and who was there.

    - The smoke monster will definitely be back in Season three. There are more monster stories that they didn't get to in season two. There is a good chance we saw the monster this year and didn't realize we were looking at it. By the end of next year we will realize what it was and when we saw it.

    - Why did the Others take J/K/S? Where is their home? That will be the story told over the first six episodes. Season 3 will also be about the main characters and their relationships. They want to service the relationships next year more than the mythology.

    - How Locke got in the wheelchair, how Jack got his tattoos will be revealed in Season three.

They said that about season 2 as well.... But they never got to it. Especially the part about explaining Jack's tattoo.

Hopefully they mean it this time.

The snowglobe line was in reference to the old TV show "St. Elsewhere", where the whole series turned out to have taken place in the snowglobe of an autistic boy.

Has anyone thought that maybe the "island" is some sort of high tech bio-dome in or around Antarctica, and that the research station was there monitoring for those magnetic anomalies?

I've also read a theory about a pseudo Bermuda Triangle, hence the specific compass heading for Michael and Walt to take. The heading also is a path to Fiji from a location in Antarctica as well, but then how could Desmond reach Fiji by going due west and arrive in a week...

Can't wait until October! Seven episodes in that cluster, thru Thanksgiving...and the the remaining starting in January/February up through May sweeps! No miscellaneous repeats in between the strings of new episodes!

I don't remember that happening at all. Can someone fill me in?

I agree with fistofrage. I know for a fact that Anna Lucile wasn't supposed to die. But because the actress, Rodriguez, that played A.L. was always in trouble with the law, and apparently a terror on the set, they decided to kill her off. But that in itself kind of changed a lot of things. According to the actor who plays Michael he was never intended to be a bad guy. He said as much on an interview last week in Detroit.
And Locke has been out of character at times. In the beginning he was very calm and collected and road the wave the Island and it's mysteries took them on. But then suddenly he's all ticked off because some people perceived Jack to be their leader. Season 1 Locke wouldn't have cared less about stuff like that.

I still love the show but I do get a sense that the writers are winging it at times. I have to believe that the answer to the whole Island was pre determined and the show is still going into that direction. But I also think that this show wasn't meant to be 3 seasons long either so they're filling it up with some useless stuff. There were far too many episodes that told little to nothing at all.
And I'm tired of watching Jack flashbacks. Sawyer's is a very interesting character and we've seen so little of his backstory.

Anyway, I'm also wondering what's up with the 'dinosaur' or whatever it was that ripped the pilot out. Or how the black smoke can reveal things about people.

But one thing I'm tired of is seeing some of the castaways discover something only to keep their mouths shut. Locke saw whatever the 'monster' is and yet he's told nobody. Locke and Mr.Echo find another hatch and don't say boo. Kate and the girls did the same thing. Why? It's as if the writers have forgotten that these people are stranded on an island away from home and their first thoughts should be to go home. Desmond comes back with a boat and not ONE person mentions that maybe they should use it to get off the island. Instead they decide to use it in their ongoing war with 'the others'. I'll tell you right now, if that were me, I'd be telling people, "I'm outta here!!!".

But in the end, I'll continue to watch the show because it is very entertaining and I need to know how it will end. I just hope that the majority of the episodes next year have a point and lend to the progress of the story.

You sure? I had heard Rodriguez was the one that was supposed to go, but the character who played Libby wasn't.

I thought I read an article from the Director who essentially stated Libby wasn't initially going to die, but they went for a further shock factor by killing her off.

I thought Libby was killed off because she signed on for "My Ex Life", a new sitcom coming up on CBS. They wouldn't let her work for 2 different networks so they killed her off.

I'm positive. It was in some newspapers when she got her first DUI in Hawaii. The producers knew about her past when she had other DUI's and issues on other movies she worked on (Blue Crush, that boxing movie). Apparently she was a major pain in the ***. So the producers made sure she realised that if she screwed up she was gone.
So then she gets this DUI and pleads to 5 days in jail. She wasn't gone then but since she had an oustanding charge for DUI, crashing into a car and leaving the scene she violated her parole which means 60 days in jail and 30 days community service. After this, the producers pulled the plug on her character.
And you can tell that the script didn't call for it. They were starting to set things up between her and Jack (drink on the beach).
And when I heard 'Michael' speak on a local radio show he said that it wasn't in the script initially for him to shoot Anna Lucile.

I'm not upset with this at all because I hate that actress. I hate the way she speaks and the way her teeth explode out of her mouth when she delivers her lines.
I also don't understand why she chooses to only use half of her eyes. It's like she always looks stoned. Which she probably is.

Lost star Michelle Rodriguez is getting killed off in the series because she is such a nightmare to work with, according to reports in the US.

The sexy 27-year-old actress is a hit as Ana-Lucia Cortez onscreen but insiders say her diva-like behaviour is sending everyone around the bend.

They are also angry after she brought scandal after getting arrested for allegedly drink driving close to the set in Hawaii.

Now insiders say Lost bosses are desperate to kill her off from the top show.

"The producers are fed up with the fact that she barely shows up on the set and is always in a bad mood," Us Weekly quoted an "insider" as saying.

"They said she was getting killed off as soon as they could write it in."

Rodriguez's spokesperson would not discuss the star's fate in the show, but insisted the actress was dedicated to the job.

"Michelle is very proud of her work," the spokesperson said.

Rodriguez is next due in court next month on her drink-driving charge.

Its like like a puzzle that the viewer can get immersed in and try and solve, because the answer to all the questions has not even been decidied yet, if it is at all.

A clear example of the writers shooting from the hip is the whole Anna Lucia escapade. How much time did they waste on her flashbacks only to have her die abruptly. What about training the army.

What about Jack's double standards. He is always screaming full disclosure, that everyone must know everything, then he leads Hurley, Kate and Sawyer into a trap.

Lock has acted out of character in many episodes at the end of Season 2.

What about the dinosaurs or whatever was in the jungle in the first few episodes of season 1? Something ripped the pilot right out of the cockpit. What happened to that whole theme?

I like the show, its definitely entertaining, but the storyline could go down a slippery road to unraveling very soon.
i really agree with you. last summer we purchased the season and watched every episode with a close friend. we were riveted and it really looked good.

but at the end of the set of discs before we started the 2nd season, i told the younger ones, "i hope this show doesnt pull a miami vice.: that show burned white hot, but as they went along they just kept trying to go over the top. this show was on friday nights and it was a must see for fans.

i remember the first episode of the last season. we, like so many others, were having a miami vice season premiere party and they just ended all interest with this over the top shooting scene reminiscent of scarface. we all looked at each other and never watch another episode.

lost was lost for many episodes this year and went over the top in too many ways. the first season worked because they gave us 15 minutes of island, and 25 minutes of background. some episodes ended with happy endings and feel good stories.

this year, everybodys pissed, the feel good stories end with a death the very next episode and half the decisions the cast makes are so stupid, that they feel like the writers are thinking "what is the dumbest thing the cast could do right now?"

i hope they read forums and reviews of what people think and go back to what worked last year.
