Who is to say that those who died didn't have something in common in someway with some other person on the plane? I'm sure any grouping of random people at any given point in time would have a lot more in common that you would think on the surface.

So you think everyone that died also knew Jacks dad or Sawyers parents, or bumped into Desmond while running stairs?

My point is, how is my theory any more wrong than the others being brought up. It's completely fathomable and I'm going to laugh if it is the truth.

Its a long stretch man. in the case of "oh they're all connected so thats why they're alive" what about all the background characters. As far as we know right now they aren't connected just like the people who are already dead but the Other's didn't kill them.

But that would only leave 6 people on the island. The Hanso group kills off a random amount of 'extras' to make it all look legit.

          I know it's a stretch but I think it's very feasible.

Went back and rewatched the ending of Lost on the HD channel on my DVR. One thing I didn't notice, When Penny answers the phone, she has a picture of her and Desmond on her nightstand.

But there was no plane crashing.

Like she said in her letter to him....all you need is one person to love....and that she would wait for him.

Obvious that she hasn't stopped loving him.

One thing I still don't understand after these past 2 seasons, it what is up with the smoke "security system" and the polar bear? They went back to these, but then again it probably all has somethign to do with the other and to do with next season.

the orientation video mentioned something about enviromental studies, so I figured that goes along with the polar bears, the shark, and now the crazy bird. Nothing noteworthy has ever been said about it though.

The smoke security system is a mystery though. I thought it was kinda lame though, I liked the idea of a big monster out there instead of smoke.

I went to the other lost boards, and it appears this is an isolated incident on the east coast (possibly just philly feed). Apparently the local stations didn't push the button fast enough to switch to the local news, and as a result they picked up the first 5-10 seconds of the west coast feed on the recap show. (which apparently started with the crash of flight 815 - I'm not sure since I didn't watch the recap show).

Sorry if I sent anyone on a wild goose chase...not my intention.

No, I'm not doubting you or anything, just saying it wasn't on my feed. Mine cut straight to the news.

hey guys, love the show and am as confused as ever, but i do have one theory about desmond and the key at the end of the finale. i don't think anything "blew up". i think it reversed the polarity of the magnet and thus pushed metal things away from the hatch, sending the debris you see being found by the losties flying up in the air and onto the beach. i don't think locke, desmond and eko are dead at all. if i remember correctly, desmond did not get to read the book so i'd assume he atleast survived. any comments?

If desmonds wife is integral part of the plan next year, one would assume hes alive.

                            Well...

his wife could be a part of it with him dead. Not like she knows he's dead...she'll be searching for him...find the island or something, and bam find out he's dead.

And we don't even know if Pen is looking for Desmond, we assume that she is but what if she's really looking for David...her husband? Hurley's imaginary friend was named David and I think there's more to that than meets the eye.

David was Libby's late husband, unless I'm forgetting something.
