Alright...the other plane survivors are not the actual "others" let's just clear that up. The real "others" are the ones who took Walt on the boat, who are more like Shadow creatures who live on the water[maybe because they're scared of what's in the hatch who knows?] Shadow creatures, if you're wondering, comes from a) the black shadow creautres Kate saw while out in the forest and how the guys on the boat all had black eyes I believe.

The episode when they were coming back from getting the dynamite...she saw the little black shadow thing...I think it was that episode(if that's the one where Locke almost gets taken by the 'security system')

Mark my prediction for the plot, the people on this show are all dead already and don't realize it, that is going to be the story of this whole show.

the writers have already stated that they aren't dead...at least not yet. (I added the not yet part)

The episode when they were coming back from getting the dynamite...she saw the little black shadow thing...I think it was that episode(if that's the one where Locke almost gets taken by the 'security system')

that thing didn't have eyes...it was all smoke....at least that's all we saw.

Interesting, so the girl was one of the others.

nah...she's a survior from the plane crash...along with the big black guy and the other people who were there...they aren't the same people who kidnapped Walt (at least that's my opinion)

Yeah, it didn't have eyes, but it def. wasn't smoke, because if I remember correctly it "fled" when she turned and looked at it. I don't have the first season DVD's currently so I can't look, but I could've sworn that thing was more than just smoke. Plus, if it was just a black cloud, it'd make sense that the others eyes(guys on the boat, Walt when he returned and spoke to Shannon, locke in claire's dream would all have pure black eyes) Just my thought.

The writers told Rolling Stone that Michelle Rodriguez's crew were not the "Others" just other passengers who landed on the island and are surviving with a more militaristic approach. Not the hippie community approach that Jack and the rest of the passangers have.

not really sure how this is a spoiler considering that Ann Lucia was in the last episode of Season 1 as a passenger.

Michael asked the same question...but keep in mind we don't know how big the island is....and the front part of the plane barely landed on the island...and Ann Lucia did say that she first landed in the water.

I don't know if it means anything or not, but Walt's dad gave the young Walt a stuffed polar bear before he went away with his mom.

I think the black guy on the other side of the island is that Woman's husband who keeps saying that she know's her husband is alive. He went to use the bathroom in the back of the plane when the plane exploded.

I don't think that those people we saw at the end of the episode were the "others" be rather the other half of the people on the plane and they have gone "Lord of the Flies" on eachother.

After watching last night, I think we can be certain that polar bears on the island are part of a research project to see how certain mammals(Including humans) act when outside their normal habitat.

I still think the big black dude is the black lady's husband.

We know that those people Sawyer & co. encountered are the survivors of the plane and the "others" were the people on the boat that took Walt. I think the other passengers have indeed gone Lord of the flies on eachother.

Here's a new theory I have......Walt was on this island before as a younger child, he was part of a research project that tested people with "special" abilities.

The "others" are renegades who's minds got diseased from the experiments on the island. They too may have special powers, but they used their abilities for evil instead of supporting the commune.

That black smoke thing is some type of electro magnetic being that has taken up a semi physical apperarance.

If Walt fears or wants something, it happens. He just doesn't know how to control it yet. Walt will use his mental abilities in the end to save the survivors.

not sure I'm buying this...if they have "special powers" why would they need guns?

also...all this talk about special powers is getting a big out of hand (I'm not referring to you...on the LOST message boards they're going to crazy over there...just about every character has been given a special power from someone.)

Walt appears to be gifted...and that's it. Locke is just very intuitive...he's not a mind reader...the guy simply pays attention.



but I really like your idea about the "Others". They very well could be experimental escapees...or rejects.

I know this isn't part of what we are discussing but I have to give props to the show for there flashbacks, the best I have seen in any show ever.

I still think that guy the fat guy was talking about (when he was talking about the numbers and the guy he saw in the phsyc ward had those numbers he kept saying) has to do with the plot eventually. Maybe he was the guy that died, I don't know. (maybe the guy in that underground area that left, he said the other guy died waiting for a replacement but who knows, maybe he just didnt see him again (and got home somehow) so assumed he died and ended up in a psych ward because of the numbers)
