your best bet then would to get HD cable TV , they have ESPN and Discovery channel and some of the locals. It would be much easier too. I went with DTV because I was locked into a contract already.

Agreed, if your cable company offers it, try it out, some of them don't offer some of the locals in HD though example: CBS...so you may have to use the antenna, but then again your local stations may not be using a digital feed either, but you'll never know unless you try....try titantv.com and see if your stations offer HD in your area

alrighty, if satellite's your way, then this is what you'll need:
1)either the sat-c upgrade or buy the oval 3-lnb dish
2)a HD-receiver that accepts both Directv and your antenna input (for locals)
3)you'll have to order the additonal HD-pack from Directv (ESPN-HD, Discovery-HD, HDnet, HDnet movies)..more channels will be coming shortly

I get hd in my area. I checked yesterday. I get locals too. I just want it with satellite. I've been burned by cable too many times. They just do business wrong.

Okay I see. So I can either buy the new dish, or the sat-c upgrade? Boy is this stuff complicated at first. BTW, how did Steve's HD problem ever turn out?
