Are you sure about this one birdog? I don't need the set top box, or special dish for the locals?

sorry man, i was assuming that you already had the set-top box. if you don't have any type of set-top box, you won't be able to receive the hd-locals

Okay, thanks. Have you heard of Voom? Do you know if the service is worth it or not? My best bet is Directv. Comcast doesn't offer HD in my area yet. Those are the only alternatives I can think of.

yes, i have heard of voom. it does sound very tempting, but the channel selection just doesn't seem to be what i want. then there's the $700 fee. i say just stick with directv for now. that's what i'm doing

Is there a difference between a regulat antenna, and a HD antenna. I'm hearing theat hd signals are the same as analog signals.

not exactly. there are both VHF (which is what most of the signals are) and then you get into your uhf

some antennas won't pick up the uhf channels just for the sheer fact that they're not transmitted on that much power. make sure that you get an antenna with good signal gain on both ends, and put it at the highest point be it inside or outside, and you should have no problem

I have a uhf/vhf antenna already, but I'm wondering if it even makes sense to dish out money for another one, or shold I shoot for another antenna indoor?
