I would go with the DLP you posted. I think you will be disapointed with the picture quality if you get a regular projection TV.................Non HD material looks pretty bad on them.

Burn in won't be a problem unless you play the same game over and over for a long time. Just mix up your viewing between regualar tv and gaming and you will be fine.

I don't have one, I have a projector hanging from the ceiling and I watch all my stuff on a homemade wall screen me, my bro and dad built. HD at it's finest!! But I have a few friends that have it and it looks plain SICKening.

            Thanks man,

Probably not wise to save a few bucks for something I won't be truly happy with. In the long run, an extra $800 is nothing.

You have any experience as to whether the Samsung or Toshiba DLP is the way to go?

Yeah, I've got to play my xbox with a projector once...Even the multiplayer split screen was bigger than what I have now!

The Toshiba wasn't working (bad omen?) when I went to futureshop today but I agree, the Samsung looked awesome. It was an open box one though- should I shy away from it because of that? Does that just mean that someone returned it?

jyd28 - I saw that Sammy on www.streetprices.com for much lower than that. I don't know how reputable these sites are, but here's the link:

It looks like you could get that set for as low at $1700 + about $100 for shipping.

I don't know about bad omen, but you should check out a few reviews on the internet first. Just do a quick search on google, I'm willing to bet you'll hear better things about the Samsung.

As for the open box deal, as long as it comes w/ some sort of warranty, there shouldn't be a problem, just make sure you know the exact reason why it was returned in the first place. A lot of times, it's just something as simple as the unit not fitting in the spot it was intended to fit.

Not sure, but I think Canada gets screwed when they have to get something shipped from the U.S. It's a steep shipping cost or something. I'm guessing that is why he's looking at futureshop....

Yeah, even with the Canadian conversion, that price seems a bit better..not sure what the deal is with customs, etc...Might have some issues.

Thanks for the link..When I saw "streetprices", I was expecting a rundown of black market guys in your neighborhood. hehe
