Re: What is the difference between HDTV and EDTV

You know this is the first time I've heard of one of those. They are pretty expensive for just OTA channels. It must be what the actual HDTV's come equipped with.

Directv will pnly give me the $199.00 deal, but still paying the 450 upfront. Voom is offering two options with buying the equipment for 199, and pick one of their packages for either 39.90 or 79.90 with a pretty nice channels selection and OTA included. Now tell me do you think they are enough now to choose over Directv or not?

Those are like 2 of the three channels they don't have yet, but I asked about it and the CSR guy said they are negotiating now. So they now only have their two sports channels, tnt, tbs, nfl network and I'm not sure but if they get hdnet people are saying they'll drop D*tv.

Nothing down, rent the equipment no contract 30+ channels of HD free OTA antenna and free install. It's too good to pass up on. I'll only miss espn until they get it, but I'll have their sports networks.

Some are ordering voom for their hDTV and a low standard package of D*tv for those other 2 or 3 channels.

Okay guys in 3 or 4 months I'm going to be taking the plunge into the HDTV world and I have some questions. I'm really stuck on what kind of TV to get. I've done extensive research on the TVs I'm thinking of getting, but all have pro's and cons.

                              Should I get a 4:3 (CRT at least 36 inch) or a 16:9 (LCD RPTV 42 inch)?

                              Current viewing habits:
My wife and I watch mostly network TV now. Obviously, I put the Xbox and PS2 to work a lot. We watch, maybe, two DVDs a month. Most of my viewing habits favor a 4:3 screen. But that might be, because I've only ever had a 4:3. How much would I be missing if I didn't get a 16:9 set?

I know that a HDTV will not improve the now existing analog signal, but do broadcasts look better on digital cable? What will happen in 2006-2007 when all broadcasts have to be digital?
