anyone know when the DirectTv TIVO will be out?

Squid, just last Sunday Ultimate Electronics had a special gathering for preferred customers to come in and see the HD-DVR for DirectTV. Their cost was 995 at the time of the gathering and I am sure it will remain around that price for sometime. We were also told that all HD-recievers are being marked down due to the fact the DirecTV will be making their own recievers from now on so there will be no more Sony, Samsung, Hughes, RCA, etc. All will just have have DirecTV on them. Hope this helps some.

Hey squid, not to be mean, but are you just jealous of Voom? I know they might not have the extensive selection of DirectTV (which I think you have), but they have all the networks that have the viewership (especially with ESPN now), plus all the other HD programming. It seems like a win/win, and believe me, I looked! That's the problem when you are thousands in debt from college, have a wife and beautiful bouncing baby boy...and are on a fixed budget. DirectTV just didn't offer me enough for the price (namely the fact that they don't offer an HDTV receiver to go with my Wega). Either way, this thread has been great, and am glad it exists!

I just ordered a 47" widescreen HD panasonic today from circuit city- http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...11064?v=glance
I was gonna go with the 53" Tiger has since they were the same price, but I noticed the picture seemed sharper on this tv and the speakers on the sides of the 53" seemed too distracting.
The saleman told me not to play games on it, because it will burn in the picture. I was wondering for all you guys with RPTV's, can games really do this? I was under the impression they could only if you left your tv on for an extended period of time like 4 hours.

It's possible I'm sure, but I haven't has a problem with mine yet. I just turn the tv if I have to pause it.

Do you guys with HD RPTVs have blurs on the edges on the models in your games?

for example with ESPN FOOTBALL do the edges around the players appear very blurry? I have a panasonic widescreen 53" hooked up with monster component cables and i have the widescreen option along with 480p and 1080i enabled on the xbox.

IT seems the graphics were clearer on my NON-HD 32 inch TV. is this normal or are they things i can do to get a crisper picture?

                              Thanks
