we just bought a 61 inch RCA DLP. It's going to get installed in a few days. My question is that I've read that the model we got doesn't support 720p and from what I've read, that's the best version to see sports games as 1080i makes it choppier. Is 1080i worse than standard 4:3 viewing when it comes to the steadiness of the action of say a football game??

My other question is; is there anyway I can get 720p by buying some type of thing?? It's kind of a bummer as Samsung does have 720p. Is it that big of a difference when watching sports??

ouch!!!! when you buy dlp, always make sure that you get 720p with it. that is why i always recommend getting a sammy for the dlp's. since you don't have one there is a way to get 720p but it's very expensive so it's not worth it. you can get a line scaler ( i believe that's what it's called) last i heard they ran about $1500.00

If it can't even upconvert 720p, it's pretty useless. I still prefer 1080i, but without 720p, you'll be missing a lot!

For anyone who cares, the new Sammy DLPs (HLP series) have been spotted at some B&M stores. These are the base models (not the tantus ones). I'm hoping to be able to pick one of these up in July.

I have to agree there, now you know why the RCA 61" is the same price as the 43" Sammy DLP. I've seen them side by side, and the Sammy just blows away the RCA.

The new sammys will have the new HD3 chip and a 7 color segment wheel (as opposed to a 6 one that I'm sure the RCA has.
