Does anybody own a Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV? That's the one I'm looking into. My brother has a 32" model and absolutley loves it. A little pricey at about $1600 for a 32" model but it seems to have a lot of features. Any help or info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thought this was interesting for those still waiting to buy an HDTV. Guess it's just one guy's opinion. http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10236/...e-DVI-by-2008/

          My tv has HDMI.

I have a Sony kdp57ws550 rptv, when I play Madden06 it seems blurry while my other games seem fine. I tried a little test earlier,I turned off the option for 480p and 1080i and left 720 enabled, and what do you know........the picture cleared right up and the game looked stunning. My question is this......did the xbox simply downscale to 480i? or is it possible that with 480p turned off that it upscaled the video source to 720p? (It does say in the manual that it can accept 720p video sources) If it did downscale to 480i,why would the picture seem to be more detailed and noticeably(sp) better? than in 480p. Any input or knowledge on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

How old is your display? Just because your tv accepts a HD resolution doesn't mean it's a HD display..ED panels can accept 720p/1080i aswell, but is displayed in 480p..

The manufacture date is October,2004. If that's what you mean by "display". I do know it's not ED though,in the manual it states the resolutions that the set can display (480i,720p and 1080i) That was one of the thing's I made sure of when I got the set.

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

I have a rear projection HD Samsung that I got last year. I just picked up the HD DVR box from my cable company and some of the shows on the HD channel look sharp and some look so-so. Is it my TV? The programming? I am using component cables and I know the TV can do good high-def because the 360 looks great. I noticed American CHopers looked crystal clear but later a Jeff Corwin special was clear but not HD clear. Any suggestions or opinions?

                  Thanks.

I'm currently getting my HD programing OTA. But I do know that not everything on a HD channel is in HD. I could definitely tell a difference between a Monday Night Football game and other ABC shows. Not sure if the same is true for Cable programing. Hope this helps.

Its the channel or your Cable provider.. They are notorious for compressing HD signals due to bandwidth issues..

OTA HD broadcast are better.. They aren't compressed to conserve bandwidth..

A couple questions about HDTV's. Any answers would be appreciated.

                            1. What is HDMI?

                            2. With HD sets, do you connect your components to it using the green, blue, red component cables? If so, what makes the picture better than a non HD set that has component inputs?

                            Thanks!

                              1. Hi Definition Multi media interface. It provides digital audio/Digital video in the same cable..

2 All HDTV's support a component connection..Whats makes the picture better than a non HD set with components? HDTV's support a higher resolution 480p/720p/1080i compared to Standard, non HDTV's, which is limited to 480i..HDTV's have 6 timeds the resolution of Standard TV's..

                                1. Does HDMI require a different set of cables to connect. Would this be where your HD cable box would be connected?

                                2. What is the best resolution. Or more importantly, what should I be looking for when buying an HD set?
