Can someone please tell me if this a good television. I had a hard time in choosing a LCD or a Plasma. I mainly use it for gaming, watching sports and movies. It was between these three and I ended up going with the panasonic. I got it for 1700 before tax.

Hey guys. Just bought a HDTV today and have some questions cause I"m new to this. After I hook up my component connections and switch the settings in my 360, am I now automatically viewing my games in HD?

Also, think I may be having a problem with this TV already. For some reason, in the bottom left hand corner of the screen I'm getting a "purplish" shaow. In the bottom right hand corner of the screnn it's a brown-green shadow. Any ideas what might be causing this? And any suggestions about what I can do to fix it? I take it that this is not normal. I'm not that worried about it, because I bought the service plan from Best Buy, but I'm hoping it just something simple that can be fixed. Thanks.

Panasonic & pioneer are the leaders in plasma technology. Plasma has advanced more then LCD's..Plasmas offer a much higher contrast ratio & displays deep blacks, somthing LCDs can't do..More vibrant colors..Nothing beats watching a movie on a plasma IMO..& the burn in issue is nil..

If it's a crt, make sure no speakers are close to your TV..You flipped to HD on the component. Now go to the dashboard, on page 4 you will see console settings..Click it, then select 720p or 1080i..If you have a CRT select 1080i.If you have a flat panel display choose 720p..

Thanks for the help man. I think it's a CRT. I"m not sure how to post the like on here from the Best Buy sight. It's the Samsung 30 inch that they have on their website though. Will I get a "clearer" picture by selecting 1080i in the 360 dashboard? Thanks for the help!

Yes, it's a CRT..The TV's native resolution is 1080i..To get the best picture select 1080i..Although the difference between 1080i & 720p is minor. At least on my LCD..

Can you hook up your HD receiver to a Tivo? I know your Tivo won't record HD, but if you run the receiver through the Tivo can you still get a HD picture?

Hey Kool, I have a question? You say you work at BB, and only have open boxes of the 960? My question is about open box, is that a good idea to buy an open box. I can get one for under a 1000, but I am scare about it being open box item. Any information about Open boxes would be really appreciate. Also, if you buy a open box item do they still deliver it to your home?
                          thanks, Scott

Only thing bad about open box is you don't know how long it been on the show room floor..The TV's are on at least 12 hrs a day, with the contrast & brightness jacked up..Also you see smudges of finger prints on the screen..& some don't come with a remote..You still have the 30 day BB return policy, & I think 90 day warranty from the manufactuerer. I believe BB only does delivery for TV's bought online, unless you make a request for it..I believe it's 60.00..Least that's what my store charges..Not sure, if its a curb side drop off or not..

Thanks, one more question lol? So do you think I should get the 970 then. You said that is good TV, also is it safe to order TV's online, if I decide to get 960. I hear the 960 is better, but I have no idea where to get one? Sorry for all the questions, but you have help a lot. I will probably get the 970, because I am not up with all the tech stuff. I probably wont know the difference between the two!

There is a noticable difference.. Has 65% more horizontal resolution..That being said, the 970 will still give you a outstanding picture..It's safe to order TV's online, but you need to look into the site first..When you find a retailer go to resellers.com.. Or just google resellers's website..It list a lot of online retailers from 1-10 in 5 categories..& as always, if a price sounds to good to be true, you know it's a scammer or a bait & switch operation..
