Exactly. That little often-overlooked fact is the second biggest reason why I watch Smallville. I mean, its a great show with talented actors and a very good, original storyline. But if it didn't have the decades of history to back it all up it wouldn't be nearly as good as it is.

What's the main reason I watch? Kristin Kreuk of course. They should bottle her hotness and sell it to normal women!

Pa Kent is alive and well in the comics. The show has already pulled away from the comics in some parts, I don't think they have to stay exact to it. I don't see either Lana or Chloe killed. Lana, because she will always be integral to Clark and Smallville, and Chloe just because she is a fan favorite. Obviously it isn't Lois or Lex. Of Ma and Pa Kent, I'd rather see Ma Kent go. I think it would be sorry if it was Lionel, and I also think Lex is going to be the one to eventually kill Lionel.

They've already talked about doing 2-3 more seasons.

As for Jonathan Kent, comics aside, he still has that heart condition on the show so it isn't far-fetched that he will be the one to go.

yeah I thought about that too. Jor-El could be considered close to Clark even though they don't like each other much. I guess if he has taken residence within Lionel's body, Lionel might die along with Jor-El. That would explain the commercials where they show Clark at the funeral. I don't think they would hold a funeral if it were just Jor-El dieing :y4: I still think it will be Lex's place to kill Lionel in the end though, just one final thing to push him over the edge.

this is true, I had almost forgot about Jor-El being in Lionel's body at the beginning of the season. I guess they could be considered close....in a fashion. I dunno....I'm still betting on Chloe, though that will really suck to be without her as well as Pete. I'm not sure how the show will be able to make up for that.

It's going to be exciting to see how it all turns out though, no matter who it is. And I'm really enjoying how they are going back and completing that branch off from the story where the old blind lady saw Lex becoming president and destroying the world around him.

Re: ***Smallville Official Season 5 Krptotalk****

I thought that James Masters was Braniac earlier in Season 5, I just dug this up from Wikidpedia.com

"In the fifth season of Smallville, Brainiac is a semi-regular character, played by James Marsters. He has appeared in episodes 501 ("Arrival"), 504 ("Aqua"), 505 ("Thirst"), 507 ("Splinter"), and 508 ("Solitude"). In all of these episodes, the character is referred to only as Milton Fine. The name Brainiac is not used on screen, but was widely used in press releases, news and interviews.

In "Arrival", the character is seen taking form from a liquid metal that oozed out of the black spaceship which arrived in the previous season's finale. In the episode "Aqua" (which focuses on Clark meeting Aquaman), Brainiac appears as Professor Milton Fine. He hires Clark Kent as his research assistant, stating that he intends to write a book about Lex's misdeeds. The episode "Splinter" focuses on Silver Kryptonite which was artificially created from Brainiac's liquid metal body. In the episode, Fine tells Clark that he is another Kryptonian, and that Clark should not put so much trust into his lesser human friends and family. In "Solitude", it is revealed that "Fine" is in fact an artificial intelligence, created by Kryptonians, that desires to free General Zod. At the episode's climax, Fine/Brainiac is impaled on a crystal in the Fortress of Solitude, and disappears; at the same time, so does the spaceship he came from. It is likely that the character is not dead, since James Marsters is scheduled to return to the series.

Smallville's interpretation of Brainiac as an artificial intelligence from Krypton is similar to the one used in Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League"

This is cool if he does come back as the Braniac we know.

yeah I read an article a few weeks ago saying that Marsters could possibly become a much bigger part and even make his way into the opening credits. The articled said it was possible because... there is going to be an opening in the current cast come February.

The creator of SmallVille said that if Smallville continues to draw strong ratings, they'll keep it going.

Yeah, i'd say it's been pretty successful to still be going strong halfway through it's fifth season. I'm sure the ratings will stay high for as long as they keep the show running.

Hopefully it goes atleast 7 seasons. It's by far been my favorite show on tv, and i've seen every episode probably atleast 2 or 3 times thanks to the DVD sets. It's only getting better as well as characters are beginning to show traits of their future selves, such as Lex becoming increasingly evil and Clark finally learning about his true calling and powers. Can't wait for this weeks episode, and next weeks 100th episode should be incredible.

SMALLVILLE has been one of my favorite shows over the past few years, but I think killing off one of the Kents or Chloe would be a big mistake. My only problem with the show is the evaporating chemistry between Lana and Clark (at least in my eyes). I'd rather see Chloe and Clark together, seeing how Lois is not an option right now. I don't see Lana as a must to keep alive to preserve the Superman mythos, because she just isn't much of a factor when Clark becomes Superman. Lex is still very likeable and hardly has the heart of Superman's most dangerous enemy. The show has moved his progression to a full fledged super villain at a snail's pace, and I wonder how evil he will become toward the end of the srie's run? I don't believe the show's future will be dictated by SUPERMAN RETURNS because the timeline of the movie is well after Superman established his presense on Earth.
