    Good guess.

Good News from the Merger...It looks like Smallville will be safe for the moment.

“Smallville” (WB): Faster than a speeding bullet, the drama about teen Superman is as safe as Lois Lane is in persistent peril. The Washington Post quoted WB CEO Garth Ancier as saying “what would be the point of owning this network if you weren’t going to have ‘Smallville,’ ” going on to note that the show brings in hundreds of millions of dollars via syndication, overseas and other deals. Perhaps the show will be paired with “Supernatural” for a sci-fi-horror themed night of programming. Odds of survival: 8 out of 10."

It wasn't in danger since it's not on the list of crappy shows aired by both networks, but all shows are going to be packaged together one way or another.

If you are concerned with the current era of Superman comics, then yes, Clark and Lex knew each other in Smallville. Recently Superman's origin has been tweaked in a series called Birthright, and in it, they introduce Lex into Smallville, in an attempt to tie in with Smallville (still no Chloe though). Lex shows up in Smallville as a lonely and troubled rich kid and Clark becomes his only friend. Clark is probably about a senior in high school at this time. Lex's father is mentioned but is never seen, he is described pretty much like Lionel. There's been another recent comic (2 months ago) that was a flashback to Lex's time in Smallville with Clark. So basically, yes in today's era of comics, Lex is part of Clark's childhood.

As for tonight's episode, I can't wait to watch it. I'm pulling for Lana to die just because I feel her story lines bring down the show. Or at least I did until they brought Lex into the midst last week. They've been building Lex's infatuation with Lana for a couple years now, it's about time they got to it. That's why I don't expect Lana to be killed off unless this new storyline is what causes it. I really think it is going to be Martha Kent. She is very close to Clark, but you really only need one parent in Clark's life even though it has been nice having both in there. As it pertains to keeping characters that exists in the comics, if Martha, Jonathan, or Lana is the one killed, it will be the first time the show has totally altered something from the Superman in the comics history since all those people are still very present in the comics today.

I'm still going with Jonathan Kent being the one to die to night, with a possibility of Lionel to tonight and if not tonight than I see Lionel being killed by Lex as the last episode of Season 5.

There is much to be done with Lana, and I can see her still staying alive so they could really prgoress the Lana and Lex relationship. This way, Clark can move on from Lana so he could really build a relationship with Lois. This will only wedge Lex and Clark further apart.

I hope that this show does eventually make out of Smallville and into Metropolis. This way we can go towards a different direction with this show as some storylines or episodes have been rehashed in different versions.

                  Spoiler - Show in progres.........

Clark took Lana to the caves and put the key in; they went to the Fortress (he had said some stuff about her maybe changing her mind about loving him, after she found out what he was going to tell her). In the fortress, he told her that he was from "a planet called Kryton." She said that he was just like everyone else; he picked her up and jumped REALLY high (it REALLY looked liked flying). On a higher...crystal...thing (whatever the fortress is made out of), Clark made a diamond (just like the movies) and put it in a ring. "Lana, will you marry me?"

                  That looked like was flying.

A little bit of a cop out, not the killing off of Jonathon Kent, but wasting half of the hour convincing us it was Lana who was going to die (actually, she did). As disappointing as the loss of the virtuous Jonathon Kent is, it was probably necessary to the advancement of the storyline, but more importantly to the basic mythology of Superman. I see Lana as a catalyst to further deteriorate the relationship between Clark and Lex and Lionel's vulturous overtures to Martha as completely destroying it. With the season finale in sight it will be interesting to see how far they will take this into season 6.

No way that Lois could have been the one to die.

Then it would mess with the continuity of the Superman mythos.

i knew jonathon was gonna die. when it was first revealed that he needed heart medication, i suspected it. and i cant believe u said lana or lois should've died. i mean, doesnt lana and pete become important figures in the superman storyline? and lois...obviously...but i think chloe should've died. the only fictional character and she still lives
