wow. i was skeptical at first, but everything seems to be falling into place. my only gripe about the movie is that all the actors are like 5 yrs younger than who they are supposed to portray

Dunno if I'll be able to take Spacey as Luthor seriously, reminds me of his Dr. Evil cameo in Austin Powers 3.

I think he started off white, and ended up black in the newer series (STAS is the correct abbreviation right?) inlcuding Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

Forget about Dr. Evil-what about Gene Hackman as a very disappointing cartoony Lex Luthor? If they shade Spacey's Luthor toward the comic side they ruin the movie.

I dunno, I liked Hackman's portrayal of Luthor. A little levity in an otherwise pretty serious movie works IMO. Remember the original SUPERMAN movies were heavily based on the golden and silver age Superman comics. Luthor was a little more "comical" back then. He wasn't nearly so serious a character.

I do agree tho that Hackman's portrayal in SUPERMAN IV was horrible but then again that's what you get when the financial backers are the guys behind the Cannon Group of films.

Not when the antagonist of the major character in the movie is reduced to being a clown. That being said, I liked Superman 1 @ 2 despite the negatives of the Lex Luthor character.

Good point, I can't really argue with it tho I think you wouldn't have noticed it much if the Ned Beatty character wasn't in the movies.

Well, the fact that Beatty's chracter was a harmless buffoon just added to the lightweight nature of Lex Luthor. If I'm a super villain I'd hire someone a little more intimidating and smart than "Otis".
