yeah im not quite sure where the story is going, i mean we have 8 episodes of this show forever and we are left with, no NY/NJ war, nothing really besides chris banging the one chick and being on drugs, oh and the "speck house" is being built. WOW! like ppl have said even if there is massisve mayhem in the final 8 episodes, it will be rushed in nature but i think we are just going to see chris or someone die in the series finalle and pretty much be unsatisfied with that. first videogames now the sopranos, everythng is starting to lose its flavor........Comment

The Final Season previews said, "It's not over" or something to the effect. I will let this below par season finale sit with me for the rest of the year and eagerly anticipate the final season.
BTW - How strange was it that they were celebrating Christmas on this episode? It's freakin' June!! I know that the dates on TV/Movies and real life don't always have to match up, but I just found it extremely distracting that they were celebrating the holidays on this episode.Comment

As for the last episode, I've gotta go with the general consensus that it was a let down. Everything just ended way too cheery for a Sopranos finale. I was actually disappointed to see Phil's heart attack considering that the wheels were in motion for the whacking of "someone close" to Tony. Eventually they've gotta let the NY/NJ war blow up and regain some steam for the show if they're seriously contemplating a movie after the series ends. For once I was looking forward to them leaving us hanging in this season.Comment

I thought it was a good episode, and it did lay the groundwork for some interesting developments:
-With Christopher using (again!) when will Tony find out? Will Tony do what he should have done a long time ago and cut Chrissy out? Or will Christopher take himself out.
-What was up with Agent Harris saying that someone close to Tony was in danger? Since he's now Homeland Security I think it has to deal with the Arabs, which coincidentally were shown as a reminder.
-Will Phil's surprisingly older crew want blood and will Phil be able to keep them in check? He's very old school, so I can see a reality where the tensions really don't escalate between NY/NJ.
-Will we find out what Eugene Pontecorvo and Raymond Curto gave to the Feds over all the time they were ratting? Was there evidence primarily for Johnny Sack (even though they were in the Jersey crew)?
-What's up with A.J.? I was expecting those thugs to come back for more free handouts and A.J. not being able to deliver.
-Did anyone else get the vibe that "maybe" Bobby and Janice were complicit in Junior shooting Tony? Those final shots of Bobby Jr. looking like Tony in his chair watching the History Channel, Janice asking Sophia to act like the mob wife and help cook. I've always thought that Janice had something to do with it, in much the same way that Livia forced Junior's hand in Season One (and she has belittled Bobby far too much for not being "man" enough). Maybe Bobby felt too guilty which was why he returned the present back to Junior...
-On that note, that cryptic remark by Tony saying that he likes Gloria, the realtor, and Dr. Melfi because they are "smart" and maybe that's why he keeps coming, despite no real therapeutic advances. Very odd.
While it wasn't the "best" finale, I was only looking at the episode as that of transition, since the stories are written for the final eight...they just aren't filmed.
And maybe the whole Christmas look was intentional, since the season won't pick up until after Christmas, making real time in line with show time?I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be. - Douglas Adams

I thought this episode was pretty good, if you don't think of it as a season finale. Technically it was, but I think the intention was for it to be more of a set up for the final storylines that are going to be the basis of the final "season". I think more people would have liked it if there wasn't a wait until the final 8 episodes. It is annoying to be left hanging, but I still have faith that the last 8 episodes will rock. At least Deadwood and Entourage are back starting next week.Comment
