Re: So when did it become cool to curse.....
I'd put it more on the parents. I'm 23 and my mom would give me a five knuckle shuffle if I cursed in front of her. A swift slap in the mouth would stop all the cursing, no matter what they listen to or watch.Originally posted by BlzerFavorite Teams:

Re: So when did it become cool to curse.....
I'm 19 and in that "cursing generation" I guess, but I would never swear in front of my parents or my oldest sister or really any other "elders". I just don't see the need to around them, even though the occasional four letter word slips out in front of my mom when I'm pissed.Comment

But just look at people's MySpace profiles. They're covered with nothing but garbage tYpInG lIkE tHiS and using just the worst slang in the world (yes, with cursing) and just horrible rap songs, etc. People think they're too good as themselves, and just do this unbearable showboating that is because of MTV and rap.Originally posted by slymm21I'd put it more on the parents. Re: So when did it become cool to curse.....
you guys are gen X, at least from what I've heard...I was born in 1980, inbetween Gen X and the Millenium generation...Gen Xers graduated highschool early 90's ish i thinkOriginally posted by EaglesFanI'm 31 and never considered myself generation X. Generation X is 4 years younger. In any event, people are more ignorant, rude, and disrespectfull to one another now more than ever.
And I agree about MTV. It's an absolute disgrace.
but i agree, I don't swear around my parents or anyone elses parents, i find it disrespectful and it doesn't show you in a positive light.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I don't know but these kids are pretty spoiled. I've never cursed around my mom or dad and my mom was about to hit me when she though I said "what the hell" around her lol.Originally posted by SoMiss2000around your girlfriend's/wife's parents? So the tv is currently on MTV with this "Parental Control" show on and the kid of the parents are cursing and the kid's girlfriend/boyfriend is cursing. I'm almost 30 and I still won't curse in front of my parents. What happened to showing a bit of respect? I'm sure MTV told them to spice it up, but then again, I've seen instances where the child curses the parent out and it just was not like that when i was growing up.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: So when did it become cool to curse.....
Rap has nothing to do with that. People are always trying to find some reason for things even when they don't know what they're talking about or know nothing about the music they are trying to blame. You don't even listen to rap so how would you know about that? And what would music have to do with anything? Music doesn't force people to do anything and you never see any videos or hear songs where rappers are cursing at their parents.Originally posted by BlzerThis is exactly the reason I don't like this rap and MTV garbage. They've brainwashed kids... they really have. They have to start listening to music that does not portray emotion like that.
People saying this ignorant crap really gets on my nerves. Everytime a genre of music gets popular it is blamed for the "ills" of the kids growing up in the generation. Jazz was said that it was going to destroy the youth, rock was the same, and now it's raps turn.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: So when did it become cool to curse.....
Exactly. My mom doesn't even have to hit me I just know what will happen if I do. I mean if it's a joke or I'm telling a story and it happened then she doesn't have a problem but if I just started cursing in front of her she would slap the **** outta me.Originally posted by slymm21I'd put it more on the parents. I've also seen that crap with terrible rock music. Music has nothing to do with personality.Originally posted by BlzerBut just look at people's MySpace profiles.
