    Re: 78th Annual Academy Awards

    Some early thoughts:

    - I'll never watch cowboy movies the same way again

    - Ben Stiller tried too hard to be funny

    - Jon Stewart has started off shaky but I liked the joke where he talked about how the rest of America views Hollywood then apologized cuz he didn't have a punchline to it.

i lack knowledge yet i know what the movie was about??... hmmm
why do i have to watch the entire movie when i already know the jest of the film..unless there is some undercover subplot i know nothing about i think i can say what i want about the movie.

Because if everyone could know what a movie was about from two words then there would be no point in watching movies at all.

Cmon...this shouldnt be that hard. I'll describe a film for you: A futuristic scifi movie about a group of rebels who fight to overthrow an evil republic. From that description you have no idea whether this movie is good or bad. Now that movie could be good (Star Wars) or bad (Spaceballs).

All you know is that Brokeback is about gay cowboys. You have no idea whether its a good or bad movie. There are plenty of films that I may not be intrested in because of a plot description...but I cant say that it was a good or bad film without watching it.

I thought it was cute. This is not the first time they've done something like that. I think on one of the Emmys they did an animated bit with the Simpsons.

im just saying i think ive learned alot about this particular movie based on the exposure its recived in recent weeks/months, therefore i dont think it is at all incredibly neccseary for me to watch it beggining to end to know what it is about...

most people who watch movies usually rely on reviews or something before running off to see it...the particular subject matter and genre doesnt appeal to me so i passed on watching it.. but to say "i dont know what the movie is about" is just being dumb IMO.

what? that makes absolutely no sense. knowing the general theme of a movie doesn't mean you can make statements about it as if you've seen it. i know Munich revolves around the aftermath of the murders at the 1972 Olympics, but that doesn't mean I can speak about the quality or merits of it.

can we stop the bickering and just keep the thread a running commentary for the awards... this thread shouldn't be locked cause a few are arguing back and forth.

Cute does not = funny. Why were they laughing at it. it wasn't funny. The Simpson are somewhat funny. Chicken Little is cute.

see there you go... i never once said the movie was bad. i just said why it may have gotten nominated was because it was about homosexual men, and i backed up that by saying that over the last few years homosexuality seems to be getting popular especially in movies and tv...and as we all know popularity rules...
