He's an idiot and he's high all the time, trying to make any kind of sense out of what he says will just give you a headache.

Didn't comb through this thread to see if this was already posted, but this is a great promo vid for Brother Ali's new album "Us". Little kid singing his *** off FTW:

      <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lsPaYZ26Cw0&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en& feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lsPaYZ26Cw0&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en& feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I LOVE Ali when he's on a positive/happy kind of tip especially, and this album seems to be right up that alley. Love all the live instrumentation and how lush and soulful Ant's production has gotten the last few years... ever since Shadows on the Sun, dude's production has taken major steps up and towards a smooth organic sound I like. Still like those eye-blinking snares from early Atmos, but I'm in love with Ant these days.

          Re: fans of underground rap?

My favorite is still Shadows on the Sun, but Champion EP is PACKED with bangers. "The Undisputed Truth" has some really great tracks but didn't grab me as much as the others albums. He released an EP recently but though I haven't heard it, the response was kinda lukewarm from most of the Bro Ali fans I know.

So yeah, start with Shadows on the Sun... that's what put dude on the map as a complete beast... he's kept up the momentum ever since.

Also, he, Chuck D, and Pharoahe Monch have the best voices in hip-hop history, IMO. So damn powerful.. you'd smack your mama if they told you to.

Hell yes, definitely up for more Brother Ali. The Undisputed Truth was great, loved the middle of that album.

Krizz Kaliko, the "Nate Dogg of the Underground", put out his latest album, "Genius" a couple weeks ago. I've been listening to it non-stop. It's a pretty good album. A couple years ago when I heard him on a Tech N9ne album, I remember thinking this guy could become a star. This album is moving him that way. The tracks on "Genius" sounds like a mix of Gnarls Barkley, Outkast, and even a little bit of Justin Timberlake.

Here's a good article on him by Jason Whitlock (yes, that Jason Whitlock):

              And his new video, "Misunderstood":

As with previous endeavors, the beats here are courtesy of Ant, whose production work seems to be getting more soulful and lush by the minute. The guest appearances only accentuate Brother Ali’s strengths, with Chuck D, Freeway, Joell Ortiz and Stokley Williams of Mint Condition making strong appearances.

Ali has turned his gaze inward, and started examining the human condition from the outside in. A profound personal glimpse into a vulnerability seldom seen or heard in music, Us touches on the strengths and flaws of the human condition, exploring drug abuse, divorce, homophobia and many more topics that most people are scared to touch in their own lives, much less on an album for the world to see.
