After finally getting around to listening to a few Royce da 5'9 mixtapes i really don't see what all the fuss is about. Sure he's decent but nothing too earth shattering from what i heard and he basically raps about the usual rap topic's like how he has a big d*ck and drive's nice car's etc. Nothing too deep or original from the (admittedly limited) selection i heard. What am i missing?Comment

I like his older stuff more than his newer stuff. When I was put on to him, I was most impressed by his flow and how he sounded like tone of the only guys that could go toe-to-toe with Eminem. As he got more popular, his content got worse. Bar Exam 3 and Street Hop have like zero replay value to me, although I thoroughly enjoyed the first two Bar Exams.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Come on Jonesy I told you to listen to the Bar Exam 1 first. If you are looking for subject matter Royce isn't your guy. His rhymes are just ill no matter what he's talking about though. He has his own unique no holding back style...he says in one line something like how he can do what everyone else can do...but nobody can do what he does...and thats true. He's a black Eminem. Death Is Certain is the name of one of his albums from about 8 years ago or something and he actually does touch on some good subjects in that one and I would recommend it along with his mixtapes. There is an unofficial mixtape with Eminem called Bad Meets Evil I think of songs they did together too if you're an Em fan.Comment

Thanks for the info NC, that Bad Meets Evil colab sounds great. I use torrents and was having a hard time tracking down any of his earlier stuff, will have to try again.Comment

Beat & Chorus are nice but Term really dumbed it down. I guess it fit into the theme of the song but just not what I'm used to from Term.
I've always been a fan of Royce but everytime I think about him (pause) I think about that video where dude got his **** cut off.Comment
