This is a really bad Kweli album compared to RE2.

I dont think Talib's new album is underground. It's number 1 seller on Itunes. It's got some great tracks, and lot of good ones. It's not an instant classic or anything but it's solid.

I hate Wiz Khalifa. All of his songs sound the same. And all the white boys I know who think they are sweet because they smoke weed bump him all the time, and quote some ******* lyrics from him and act like they are awesome.

I saw a facebook post recently that said "Big Sean is the greatest rapper alive" and the comments were like "You never heard of Wiz apparently?" I just laugh. I can't wait til his buzz wears off. I have never seen one guy gain so much hype with all of his songs/verses sounding exactly the same.

Just like when 50 was big, wiz's biggest fans are kids in the suburbs who have no idea what he's talking about unless he says the word weed.

          Re: fans of underground rap?

But thats the thing; weed is the only thing he says. I swear, all of his verses are in this same exact format.

          Yo, smokin weed dawg
          im like so free dawg
so come onto the plane dawg we about to fly ya dig
          yeah nigggguh

He just repeats that throughout every bar/verse. There is nothing other than weed, *****, or some horrible reference about planes. I dont' know a single black person who listens to him. But all the white preppy kids, who brag about smokin weed on facebook all day, praise him like he is the greatest thing rap has ever seen. And then they go call him the greatest rapper alive or something like that.

These are the same kids who act like they know rap music, but they only know like 5 mainstream artists. These guys I know constantly post these top rapper lists that are they like "Wiz, Wayne, Gucci, and Da Juiceman." And they debate acting like they know everything about rap music. But they probably couldn't tell me what this song is about:

Thats why there isnt a such thing as a "underground" artist IMO.

His style was mainstream for a whole decade... (90's)

              2000's are over.

And we shall see another style in Hip Hop that will be popularized and become dub as "mainstream"

guys like Waka Flack and Gucci would've been "underground" artist in the 90's...In fact, the south were'nt even respected...The "drum and bass" sound wasnt recently created.

Mainstream is, the common current thought of the majority

I guess Underground could qualify as the opposite of Mainstream, but i really dont think thats the case. IMO of course.

              Just some food for thought.

              PS

Saying that Wiz is the most hyped up rapper you ever seen is not believable for the simple fact that we just spend a whole decade listing to mediocre rappers on the radio....

I can name atleast 10 rappers who are in the category of "hyped for no reason" the easiest answer would be Soulja boy.

I agree that Wiz is not the greatest rapper alive tho...

I've tried my damnest to get into Kweli, but I just can't for some odd reason.

I think he's a good spitter, and he actually has something to say unlike a lot of rappers today. But something about him rapping I can't adapt to. Can't put my finger on it...

It's like you extracted a quote directly out of my brain. I can't sit back and say he sucks or anything like that. I completely acknowledge that he should be someone I'd enjoy listening to. But for some reason, I just cannot get into his music.

I understand what you guys are saying. I love some of his songs, but there is a lot that just do anything for me. It's not that the songs are bad, I just cant feel them. He is still a great artist, but there is something that keeps from loving everything he does.

His voice is annoying, his flow is terrible, and while he has songs with a message a lot of the time he talks about absolutely nothing.

I have to laugh whenever you put something that bluntly. I agree on his flow though. Some songs, it's just off. Like he tries to say a little too much in one bar and it throws everything else off. I don't mind his voice though.

DMX came on the radio yesterday and it made my day. Ironically, when he came on, a random dog ran down the street and chased my friend from his house into my car in the driveway. And then he started jumping up on my car. And he came the second DMX came on. Haha.

I miss him though. He's got two albums he will release at the same time when he gets out of jail. If they ever let him go. He should have been out a years ago, I feel for him.
