Re: fans of underground rap?
Say what you will, I love EL-P and unlike 90% of most hiphop artists, he actually tours and puts on a damn fine show. I never said he's the best MC (b/c he's not an mc) but the production makes up for his lyrical short-comings.Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.Comment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Hey I'm not knockin your taste or anything, I personally feel that his production turns me off to his music. And hell if he puts on a good show, it's all good. I went to Rock the Bells 06, and there were several acts that nearly put me to sleep.Comment

Re: fans of underground rap?
There is no doubt he can do some dope ****... "The Overly Dramatic Truth" & "Poisenville Kids No Win Reprise" are some great songs... the rest of his album comes up terribly short though. The production just comes off as 'noise' rather than music.SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

Re: fans of underground rap?
I haven't heard any of his other stuff but the beats on his most recent album are not that good at all.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: fans of underground rap?
You have to like that style of music I guess, it's not your typical 'hiphop' sound. I'm a fan of music, and I just love his choice of instruments and arrangement. You either hate the album or you love the album. To each his own.Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.Comment

I love music, I'm not stuck in typical hip hop beats and I don't just listen to rap. But yeah, to each his own.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: fans of underground rap?
Artist: Talib Kweli
Album: Eardrum
Producers: Hi-Tek; Kanye West; Rick Rubin; Midi Mafia; Kwamé; DJ Khalil; Madlib; will.i.am; J Dilla; Pete Rock; Just Blaze
10 songs in a row up to "Electrify" starting from when the cd first starts spinning is spectacular music. It's about time Talib! Lately, Kweli has sounded awkward on his latest work, and I think it's the lack of the right tempo for his unique flow. This album does a very good job of getting his flow down, up until the 11th track "Hell" which probably describes what it's like to listen to Talib's flow on that song. It's actually sad, because the rest of the album after track 10 besides "Listen" is pretty terrible. This album could have been something extremely special if Talib avoided putting those songs on. Too bad the advanced copy doesn't include J Dilla's dedication track produced by Dilla himself. This album is definitely worth having, and it looks like Talib is well on his way to making Blacksmith a cornerstone in hip-hop.- Grade:
