I know MF Grimm gets no love anywhere, but his new album "The Hunt for the Gingerbread Man" is real nice. It hasn't left my rotation for 3 weeks.

Good call, very nice album. One of the better hiphop concept albums in years.

According to Wikipedia, it sold like 300,000 copies.

I'm not sure but they're songs were tight as hell.

By the way the Prince Ali someone posted is legit. So chill and the beats just flow so great.

yessir... "Mixtape" of the Year Candidate... I mean, it's not really a mixtape, but a free online-album released by the artist himself isn't exactly an official release lol... so if it's an EP or whatever, they all go in the same category...

I personally loved it and still love it. Prince Ali and Incise are some promising talents to know about in the coming years.

Boo the labels! Everyone should just be independent these days.

Heh, I've been wanting that for the last dozen years. All true rap artists should carry a "F these majors" attitude and go strictly indie like most of them had back in the early- to mid-'80s. That way they'll have total creative freedom to do what the hell they want and not have to listen to an A&R or other staff member tell them to water down s---, or make some kind of crossover track to push as a lead single and video. And the publishing... wow. Artists are getting absolutely raped on that.

And the Def Jam label has sucked for years. Nothing surprising there. They're trying to capitalize on force-feeding cookie-cutter, no-talent rappers molding R&B-ish elements in their songs. (And mold these genres in a terrible way, I add. People need to listen to Heavy D's stuff to see how it's done properly. The best to ever achieve this feat in my opinion.) They look to promote and sell this low-quality crap to the public mainstream to mainly attract the female audience, just like the rest of the majors.

I really don't know why artists deal with these huge labels. As stupid as Cam'ron is he knows that if he releases an album on Kock and it sells 100,000 copies, he'll still make way more money than the rappers on big labels, and that's just from the points on the cd's.

First listen and I'm not really feeling them, at all. The singer sounds like that guy from Linkin Park who went to Fort Minor or whatever. Man it's playing right now and it keeps getting worse for me.
