Re: fans of underground rap?
I never really got into The Roots much. I mean I know some of their work, but I wasn't a huge fan. I think because I wasn't exposed to them until a lot later and then I never really went back and checked out all of their stuff.Comment

to be honest Dookie, I'm not a Roots fan either. Illadelph Halflife is some dope **** tho. You gotta respect their work though. It's uniquely put together.SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

You guys heard the Jay-Z & Marvin Gaye mixup album Brooklyn Soul. It's not quite underground but it has that sound. I can listen to the entire album and everything just flows from song to song.Comment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Get this.
If there is such a thing as steroids for producers, Nicolay and S1 have definitely taken them. Their beats are so much better than they were before.Last edited by jmood88; 02-06-2009, 12:25 AM.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Yeah I want a new one too. S1 has taken his beats to a whole other level.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: fans of underground rap?
Are albums dead at this point?
The blog explosion in hip hop and the free mixtape movement really has me hooked. Underground dudes just want their music heard at this point, even the seasoned and well known guys are realizing they have to get stuff out there and stay relevant.
I don't know how it works out from a financial standpoint, I guess it depends on how many shows these guys can book. But I think it's clear that one real album every 18 months won't cut it for a lot of these guys anymore.
I mean, Charles Hamilton (has he been discussed here?) just dropped like 7 mixtapes to get his name out there.
It seems like the last few months have been really slow in terms of UG albums, but I've been going back and downloading mixtapes from that time that I never bothered checking and enjoying them way moreLast edited by NC State-31 UNC-27; 02-13-2009, 12:43 AM.Comment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Speaking of S1... have you guys heard his son, who is 11? Kid is pretty damn good, not just for his age, but period.
