Re: fans of underground rap?
One of my favorite DOOM verses....(although JMood probably won't read it cause he already hates DOOM)
Tripping off the beat kinda, dripping off the meat grinder
Heat niner, pimping, stripping, soft street minor
China was a neat signer, trouble with the script digits
Double dip/bubble lips, sorrow less midget
Borderline schizoid, sort of fine tits tho
Pour the wine hold the grind, quarter to nine, lets go
Ever since ten eleven, glad she met a brethren
Then his last style seven alligator, seven at the gates of heaven
Knocking, no answer, slow dancer, hopeless romancer, dopest flow stanzas
Yes, no Villain, Metal Face the death stroke
Guest shows, still incredible in escrow
Just say hoe, I will taste the yayo, Wild West style fest, y'all best to
lay low
Hey bro, Day Glo, set the bet, pay dough
Before the cheddar get away, you best to get Maaco-Jay Illestrate, Emcee/Producer/Graphic Artist

Re: fans of underground rap?
It's god awful. If he wasn't for his persona he'd be nothing. I agree he uses big words and stuff, cool... but in my mind if you can't flow with the beat at all and just spout off big words and long verses in a monotone voice that isn't anywhere near the beat, then you're not a rapper. You're a spoken poet with a lisp.
I mean I love the guys persona, I love the guys beats, I love his message but without a flow you're worthless to me as a rapper. As it's essentially one of the main aspects of hip-hop.PSN: VoicesWrestling

Re: fans of underground rap?
Lack of flow? LOL.
Doom's lyrics are pure poetry. The way he uses the sounds of words in his lyrics is unmatched by any other MC. I read and write poetry, and I feel like Doom is one of the most innovative poets living right now. Hell, one of my poetry professors actually assigned us to listen to 5 MF Doom songs and then write a poem, lol.

I'll humor you though. Here's a random MF Doom song. I don't even know what this is but it sounds like ****.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Yeah, I'm sorry... but if that doesn't illustrate terrible flow I don't know what does. The beat changes, has breaks, has peaks... does Doom change? Nope.PSN: VoicesWrestling

Re: fans of underground rap?
Everything he has ever recorded illustrates his horrible flow. There's no need to play specific songs when you think it'll sound good while me and Fed Ex will think it sounds bad. The only song he has ever sounded good on (to me) is the Danger Mouse remix of Somersault.

Re: fans of underground rap?
Ummm... that song was awesome as hell. I actually think his flow there was unbelievably good. After reading 3rdAnswer's post with Doom's lyrics, I realize his style now. The way he parlays that style and flow AND lyricism on "Monkey Suite" had me shaking my head in amazement. I even ooo'ed and aaa'ed at a few points in the song. The whole describing himself concept was genius. Won't catch him in a monkey suite.
Video was dope as hell too.
