Neither band does anything for me, but I'd go with Rage even though I've always had a strong dislike for their sound (I hated that whole rap-rock movement in the 90's). Audioslave sounds like a commercial band put together to make some money. They don't do anything noteworthy and Cornell isn't impressing anyone anymore. Rage was probably the most original and note-worthy of the rap rock bands and at worst you could call them unique. Their music is at least respectable, even if I don't care for it.

from what i gather, all of u are still clinging onto rage alittle. i heard audioslave does rage songs when they tour. hahaha thats gotta hurt.
but from my view, audioslave might as well be one of the last talented/biggest potential bands out now.Comment

Audioslave in concert is a little different. They only play their good songs, so the setlist is pretty solid. The covers are great though.Originally posted by zeroxray0from what i gather, all of u are still clinging onto rage alittle. i heard audioslave does rage songs when they tour. hahaha thats gotta hurt.
Umm...no? Sure, they have a lot of potential, at least judging from their previous work, and they certainly don't launch themselves close to that potential, but least talented? Come on. Have you heard what else is played on the radio?but from my view, audioslave might as well be one of the last talented/biggest potential bands out now.

I agree with this assesment of Audioslave.Originally posted by CM1847Audioslave is boring, they are good at what they do, but what they do is make decent radio-rock songs that you don't mind hearing, but never get you excited or make you feel passionate about
However, I can't stand Rage Against the Machine, so I'll go with audioslave.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

RATM first two albums (self titled and Evil Empire) were great. Lots of great hard rockin tunes. But after that, they just kinda lost "it". Don't know what happened, but they just didn't sound like the same band anymore. Too much about the liberal politics and not enough about the tunes. Just my opinion of course. How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? uhh i meant one of the LAST. theres nothing on the radio now that intrigues me anymore in terms of rock. everyones selling out. even thursday...oh god, the last concert i went to they played like 3 ballads from their new cd that was like watching nickelback up thereOriginally posted by Fresh TendrilsAudioslave in concert is a little different. Re: Want your opinion: rage against the machine or audioslave?
Battle of LA was the only original album they released after their first two albums. While Battle of LA isn't as good as their first two, its not far off. And I always thought they started out as having a heavy basis in politics.Originally posted by Victor99RATM first two albums (self titled and Evil Empire) were great. Lots of great hard rockin tunes. Yup. It's all about the almighty dollar these days when it comes to the world of music. Re: Want your opinion: rage against the machine or audioslave?
hmmm...if that's true then why are record sales are at an all time low and classic rock stations get the best ratings? Whtat real bands or artists are there from the recent era (r.e. not the 80's or earlier) that are the "legends" such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols, The Beatles, etc etc etc??Originally posted by Victor99Yup. You'd think the dummies who produce this stuff would figure it out but it's been going on for years now so maybe they won't...instead they keep giving us garbage like ...aguilera and spears and bands who are put together to appeal to mass markets and instead appeal to no one after their one hit single fizzles..Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

To say that most of the bands are on the level of the ones mentioned is kinda silly I think. The only ones that have a chance are Radiohead, Nirvana (who kinda already is), Pearl Jam, and maybe the Red Hot Chili Peppers.Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsSeriously?

Re: Want your opinion: rage against the machine or audioslave?
Some great bands but i'm not convinced they are rock legends. Will bands like Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Beck and the other best ones on this list really be remembered, influencing the genre and still selling albums at a steady rate 35 years from now in the year 2041 like the Beatles, Floyd, Zeppelin are right now?Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsSeriously?

Re: Want your opinion: rage against the machine or audioslave?
Its hard to compare bands that have already made their mark and aged 30-40 years than bands that have been playing (and are still playing) for 5 years or less.Originally posted by EWRMETSTo say that most of the bands are on the level of the ones mentioned is kinda silly I think. Re: Want your opinion: rage against the machine or audioslave?
That's a good point but I really still do not believe the bands/artists today are on the same level of those classic bands. But part of the problem may be as has been stated in this thread, the bands that are great and could be legends are probably out there right now but we'll never hear them and they'll never have a chance to be heard because record companies and studios are unwilling to take a chance on anything different than the radio bands/artists that they want to spoon feed to the mass market.Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsIts hard to compare bands that have already made their mark and aged 30-40 years than bands that have been playing (and are still playing) for 5 years or less.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
