I didn't care that Maida worked with Avril. I know some would laugh at this, but I thought Under My Skin was a good album.

What I don't get is how some fans here jumped off the OLP wagon after Happiness came out. That was the album that took their popularity to a whole nother level. For some folks, it's no longer good to enjoy a band/artist if they get too "mainstream".

I think it is their strongest work to date. Even with all the radio hits and great songs Throwing Copper had to offer, Secret Samadhi just bring something to the table which makes it beautifully depressing.

I completely agree. At the time I did my rankings, I believe I had it positioned at #11 when determining my Top Ten Albums of 2004. I'm sure looking back on it now, there are some better albums I've stumbled upon released in 2004, but it still remains quite a quality piece of pop excellence. Outside of Breakaway and Something To Be, I don't think there has been a better straight pop album released this decade.

          It was a good album.

A lot of fans jumped on Gravity. But a lot of new fans came too. Many criticize Gravity but I view it as growing as an artist, if you listen to the music, it's still the same. I think Steve Mazur breathed some new life into the band that Mike Turner didn't have. Gravity is evident of that and Healthy in Paranoid times is the continuation of the growth.

Secret Samadhi was a work of art imo.

My favorite all-time LIVE song, from the first album: Pain Lies On The Riverside

There's something about that song that I really enjoy when listening to it.

It's a good thing I saw this thread when it started, if I would have came on later and saw 33 posts under a new OLP thread, I would have though someone died in the band.

I would probably go with "Iris" or "Horse" from Throwing Copper as my favorite single track.

I like the songs on Gravity. Wouldn't you consider this the turning point album for the band?

Yeah, it was a big turning point. If you listen to the alums in order, Gravity has a definite different sound. They worked with Bob Rock on that album as well as Healthy. The sound is different, but the music is the same if that makes sense.

Hey, just be thankful the band is still together. It seems like every one of my favorite groups -- sans Nickel Creek -- has either broken up or undergone dramatic makeovers in the past five or so years.

I remember now, you used to have the Paranoid Times album cover as your avatar last summer.

Another great band, what a great sound Nickle Creek has.

Yep... I had it the month before and the month after the album dropped. My local Best Buy got in ONE copy of the dual disc. LOL

Many bands over the last 16 years, since the 90's haven't really stayed together that long.

Fuel broke up not too long ago and I liked them also.

Smashing Pumpkins are rumored to be getting back together again.

BUSH whom I liked also are gone.

Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine were great, but we did get AUDIOSLAVE.
