Do you seriously think that I, as an aspiring teacher, would actually enjoy making others feel stupid just because I showed them how something works? That's just slightly ridiculous, don't you think?

Re: Crazy Math Trick (Check It Out)!!!
What? I'm sure everyone wanted to now how it worked, so I posted the mathematical solution to it. If I didn't do it, I'm sure someone else would, it's a pretty basic HS algebra function. And, no, I wasn't trying to make everyone else feel stupid in posting just how it works. If I was going to do that, I would have been all "OMG! You guys are such morons for not realizing just how simple this is! Have you even taken an algebra class!?" And did I do that? No. I said that I wasn't impressed by it, simply because of how simple it came out to be. No where in that was I rude to other posters or calling them simple-minded for not being able to figure it out. Plus, it's not like it is now suddenly rendered useless just because someone figured out the math side of it, everyone who wants to can still try it out and see if it works for them.Originally posted by Nivek

Re: Crazy Math Trick (Check It Out)!!!
Didn't seem too difficult to me.
I guess all those years of high level math for my Computer Science major paid off. Too bad this is one of the few times that part of my education paid off. Figures that it was for something unimportant and not something I'd need at work.

Re: Crazy Math Trick (Check It Out)!!!
You could AT LEAST give credit to whichever of the websites you got the "solution" from, rather than pretending you worked the math.Originally posted by BGarrett7Eh, I'm not impressed.
All you have to do is take 10,000 times your first three digits and add the last four digits to it, and have some useless crap that cancels out.
The equation works out to this (x = first three digits, y = last four digits):
[250 * (80x + 1) + 2y - 250] / 2 = 10,000x + y
That simplifies to:
(20000x + 2y) / 2 = 10,000x + y
Which, obviously simplifies to the required:
10,000x + y = 10,000x + y
Yawn.Originally posted by bkrich83Hell no, I was way to white, and way too slow to play for USC.Comment

Uh, I did work the math. I probably still have the paper I wrote it on laying around here if you would like for me to scan and post it.Originally posted by WessinmouseYou could AT LEAST give credit to whichever of the websites you got the "solution" from, rather than pretending you worked the math.Comment
