Eh, I'm not impressed.

Yawn.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but I don't think it was the math equation in the middle that elicited the response. It was probably the first and last lines, which give off that "I'm smarter than you" vibe.

I don't care myself. Everyone has areas that they're better than others in. I'm not a huge fan of algebra, but give me statistics or raw numbers and I have a good time. To each his own.

Heres another math trick for ya...this one seems to be harder to figure out how it works:
1. Pick any number between 1 and 10.
2. multiply by 2.
3. Add 5
4. multiply by 50.
5. Almost done, if you have already had your birthday this year, ADD 1756. If you haven't had it yet, ADD 1755.
6. Finally subtract the year you were born (example for me I would subtract 1971)
7. You should have a 3 digit number......the first digit is the number you originally picked(back in step 1)..and the last two are your age! Wicked

Not really as hard to figure out once you see the math done. It sorta builds, so you just have to follow it. The numbers really aren't as arbitrary as they appear.

So, here goes:

For 1 ≤ x ≤ 10, 2x

2x + 5

50 ( 2x + 5 ) = 100x + 250 (This is where the first number is returned in the ned)

100x + 250 + 1756 (or 1755) = 100x + 2006 (or 2005)

100x + 2006 (or 2005) - y (y = year of birth)

Should return the original number and your age, right?

The 100x returns the x** format, and your age is determined by the 2006 (or 2005) minus the year you were born.

1000x + 100y +32940 + z - 32940 = 1000x + 100y + z

Which, for something such as x=12, y=31, z=57 equates to 123157.
