    Re: United 93

I've only seen shots, no video.

Well, I've seen video of the towers in smoke, but not actually of a plane hitting it.

You must of not watched the news on 9/11 or something because they replayed the video about every 5 minutes. (max) I believe there was only video of the 2nd plane. (since, obviously, people didn't expect a plane to hit a building that day)

Because the war in Iraq has little to do with Al-Queda, the perpetrators of 9/11. Even the President says it's about liberating the Iraqi people.

That's as far as I'll take the political side so this doesn't get locked.

The video of the second plane hitting the WTC will be burned into my memory until I'm put 6 feet underground.

Actually no. There is video of the first plane hitting.
The two French filmakers who were filming with a Chief(Joe Pfiefer) who was taking them on runs(incidents) in Manhattan. They were filming the Chief at an emergency(either a gas leak or CO incident...I forget) when they heard the roar of the low flying, wickedly fast(they were at full throttle for sure as I heard when the second plane went over my head a little later that day) and the filmakers quickly panned overhead....and caught the plane hit directly in front of them. Chief Pfiefer had the smarts to say RIGHT AWAY....(I'm paraphrasing here) "We're under attack from terrorists". These two brothers eventually caught some of the most unbelievable video I've ever seen.
As shocking and indelible as the image of the plane hitting is(I've only seen it twice since September 11th)....I can't even describe what seeing it happen was like. I was four blocks away(on Greenwich Street) and it literally felt like the world shook.
I remember instantly thinking..."we just lost a ton of guys"......and I got a sick feeling in my stomach.
Just typing this makes me feel sick in a way.
I don't know if I'll go to the theatre to see this film.
I'm sure I'll watch it when it comes to DVD. Alone. When my wife is at the gym or work, so she can't see me.
When I finally got home two days later...I crawled into my bed and asked my wife..."How could people do this to one another?"...and finally lost it.
The thing I can't get out of my mind?....Having to "dodge" the poor people who finally couldn't take it anymore on the upper floors. I'll never forget the sound of that. I'll never forget seeing their faces just before they hit.
            It haunts me.
and O'Dogg is right....some people have forgotten already.

I thought when I first read your post ...you had written that you were under the impression that there was no video of the first plane hitting....that's what the first line in my reply if referring to.
I must be seeing things....Sorry for the confusion.

Edit...Okay..I see it was in the quote in your reply to p2xgamers...

I thought it was boring til the final 15 minutes from a movie aspect. But because its based on facts its pretty emotional althought it didnt leave too much of a lasting impresson on me or my girlfriend.

The thing about it is that it really does not tell the entire story of September 11th. It really mostly focuses on what was also the title of the movie... United 93.

And like I said before, it really did not seem like a movie while I was watching it. It seemed like a bunch of people just sat in to relive something. I couldn't really point out flaws or effects of some sort, any signs of bad acting, who this actor was, how the music played out, etc... because it was really played out like it was something that we were watching actually happen right at that moment.

Those last 5 minutes had my heart racing at 120 beats/minute. Possibly one of the [well, not greatest, but] most memorable endings to a movie I will ever see.

                    Re: United 93

From a technical stand point it was a pretty good movie. I liked how they did a lot of "hand held" camera shots it kind of gave it a chaotic feel which fit since 9/11 was a pretty chaotic day. Its very emotional as most people have stated, most of the acting was good. I think its probally very emotional and personal for everyone becuase it brings back the memory of 9/11..like where you were at and what you were doing when you heard about the world trade centers.

One thing that bothers me is some of the reactions/comments I have heard from a couple of people who have seen it. ex "Its real boring until the last 20 or 25 mintues"...? Are you kidding me what did they expect a "popcorn flick" or some kind of exaggerated love/action story?? Its like a documentary and a movie in one. Sometimes acutally often people depress me.

Maybe they would have liked it better if it had a love triangle...like a pretty rich girl in first class is torn between her snobby fiance and the poor nice guy in coach.

I loved the final shot. It goes from the struggle in the cockpit, the camera pans past the fight and then just focuses on the ground until they hit. I thought that was great production right there.

I don't think any of us who are adults have forgotten about 9/11. But, I do think TV misrepresents how our youth precieves 9/11, and the constant mistrust of the government. I was 100% against this movie until I saw it.

I hope this is a movie that gets played in school classrooms years from now, much like a movie like Schindeler's list was played when I was in school. Just as a reminder there are evil people in the world.

First off thanks for sharing your memories of that day. Like you,it changed my life forever.

I saw the film by the two French brothers. What balls they had huh? They went right into the towers with all your brothers. I saw my cousin twice in that film. Unreal. The sounds of the bodies hitting the ground still make me sick. I can't imagine seeing that. We taped the film and I look at it when I start feeling sorry for myself. Quite a slap of reality.
