Any time Tarel Jr. wants to visit the firehouse...you just let me know.
I'll go pick up he and his mom and bring them there and home, personally.
    It would be my honor.

As far as the film...United 93...I talked to one of the guys in my house who saw it. He said it made him proud that these people did something in the face of grave danger.
It's a difficult thing to do when you are trained to face such things......it's something EXTRAODINARY when you are not. Those people where extraordinary for sure.

Thanks brother. I can't wait to sit down with you and talk. I should be in town for the 4th of July. I really look forward to it.

I couldn't agree more. They were extraordinary . It takes a great deal of heart to to do what they did. I know soldiers that had years of training only to freeze up when in danger. These people knew the situation and had little time to act on it. They really are hero's.

United 93 is miles ahead of World Trade Center. I never felt a real connection to 9/11 while watching World Trade Center but United 93 is the exact opposite.

Watching United 93 is an emotional experience. I felt joy and anger while watching the film. From the moment the hijackers entered the plane, my heart was pumping.

The decision to cast no name actors was the right move. The story is front and centre, not a big Hollywood star.

The final shot of the plane going down from the perspective of the cockpit will stay with you for a long time.

The only critique I have of this film, is that the movie could have been tighter. There was a pacing issue. I would have removed 5-10 minutes of scenes involving the air traffic control centers.

I’ll finish my review on a random note. One of the hijackers looked like the lead singer from Simple Plan.

          Re: United 93

just saw the movie. very very well done movie. felt extremely real the entire time. there were no storylines with individual characters at all, just purely the events of 9/11, specifically of course with the plane and its couragous passengers.

i cant even explain my thoughts on the last scene. it was just plain crazy chaotic.

btw, comes out on DVD this tuesday. id recommend anyone whos ready to see it to go out and watch the movie. also gives you some insight on some of the governments mistakes and how chaotic it was on their side as well.

the connection was more than likely because you knew they died and felt that emotion. whereas, you knew the PA guys survived.

imo thats pretty much the difference in connection. its all a mental afterthought. show each one to someone in a time capsule who hasnt seen anything for dozens of years, and he's just as shook in both.

sadly thats what our brain thought process comes down to, it seems. imo

                Re: United 93

I rented the DVD to check out the special features. The Families and the Film documentary was well done. Some of the actors from the film met up with the families of the victims to chat.

One segment that really touched my heart was when they showed a little girl who lost her Dad. She's not old enough to understand what really happened to her Dad and why he died.

The documentary also got the reaction from some of the family members of the victims after the screening of the film. All of them thought it was well done.

I finally got around to renting this movie and I was shocked. It was really, really good.

I think everyone should go see it.

My gf insisted on going to see this in the movie theaters. I did my homework beforehand and KNEW this wasn't the movie you go see and have a good vibe afterwards. NOBODY that left after the movie said anything....just a weird awkward silence. The rest of the night was a waste, just like I figured. I'd say this is one of those movies you watch by yourself very much like like Schlinder's List.

I thought it was well done, but released too soon.

                        Re: United 93

Well, I never did get it for Christmas (instead I got Memento, Ocean's Twelve, and Lucky Number Slevin), but I did pick up United 93 last night, and watched it again. Not quite the same power as in a movie theater feeling the dead silence with others around myself as well, but just as sad. I truly love this movie, and I'm probably one of the few that appreciate that it was made.

Actually, I never really want to call this a "movie," because when I watch it I feel like I'm in the plane, or the control center, etc. It's tough for me to think of it as a movie when I'm watching it, seeing that I don't really have much to critique.

By the way, does anybody know how accurate this movie was supposed to be? Like in terms of dialogue, etc?

All of the parts spoken over the phone are exactly what was transcribed I read. The rest, such as control tower dialogue, is from memory of those involved. And the rest, such as the dialogue on the plane is of course pretty much speculation.

Still one of the best movies I've ever seen.

I have one of the very rare released 2 disc verison of this DVD, and it's simply breath taking.

Remember the recording of the terrorist in the cockpit? Do you think that was real?

Anyway, I don't think that this was released too early, and if it were released another five years later... well, not that it would have left too many people's minds or anything, but a lot of people are leaving this earth while a lot of other people are being born and raised, and it won't be as familiar to the US population as it is now. I hope that makes sense.

No, this is something like D-Day, Pearl Harbor, etc...it will never be forgotten. Those who lived it, like I did, will never forget the images of that day. I was glued to CNN all day and night. It's something no one will forget, and years from now will be talked about to the younger generation like D-Day and Pearl Harbor are now.
