Like I've said before, you're confusing sync with transfer. Are you Syncing as in erasing all of the old stuff off your iPod and putting the new library on there? Or are you manually transferring stuff to your iPod?

I have a stupid question and apologies if it has been asked in here before, but is there anyway to get music from a online source to an ipod without having to go through itunes and pay 0.99 per song? It seems unreal that other services charge a montly fee for unlimited downloads but yet itunes charges per song, I assume since they know the name ipod is popular now and can milk it for all its worth. Thanks for any help, Im new to this, or late depending on how you look at it.

Oh I guess I'm transfering the windows songs from M's computer onto my ipod and still trying to keep my songs I orginally had.

You have to turn syncing off to do that xrob. Otherwise when you attach your iPod back to your computer, it will erase the music that you got off of your buddys computer, and replace it with your music library on your old computer. Since your computer doesn't have his songs on there, it will erase them. The only way to fix that is to turn syncing off.

Im sorry for not knowing much about this at all, but how do you just transfer additional songs?
Also, is there a way to view your Ipod songs on the computer?? so you can edit titles and remove single songs and such.

Ok- figured out how to manually get songs on there.
I'm guessing there is no way to view all the ipod song s on the computer so I can fix the spelling on some band names??

i checked off the box for manually updated ipod, then i just dragged the songs in m,y itunes library onto the ipod icon on the left/.
to get my songs into the itunes library i just selected import folder- then i selected my whole "my music" folder

So is it possible to go to another computer and manually add songs to ur ipod without using itunes (playable and visible from the get go).

I know this has been asked many times before, but I don't want to go back through all the pages to find it..

But, my iPod has been acting up. A lot. And, since I have 3-yr. warranty on it I'm just going to take it back to Best Buy and get a new one, but what are some software programs that will store my music and videos that I have on my current iPod onto my laptop so I can transfer them to the new one I plan to get?
